You must have had a lot of water come out then if you didn't drain down the system :shock: is it an upstairs rad? Might be an idea to drain down completly from drain off point and just re-fill, or one of other suggestions.

Is the central heating pump on full speed? did you drain down system when you replaced the valves? try and connect the drain valve upto a mains tap and back filling the system to force out any air, just be sure to keep an eye on the expansion tank and watch it doesn't over flow.

Just go for a known brand such as Aqualisa, Mira, Triton, Trevi.

Yup heed that edvice, my mate just paid £4000 on a new combi and CH from NPower i told him to cancel and go with somone local but, well whats point on saving a couple of grand ehh? :roll:

If their isn't a gate valve to stop the water coming out of the tank, then turn off the mains, or tie up the ball valve in the loft, and run a few hot taps in the house to drain down the tank, either that or bung the feed pipe in the tank, empty the pipes and change the washer.

Anybody know of any suppliers that stock the above?

if you want to sit it on something then plumbers mate is as good as anything, just use less of the stuff, and wipe any excess off straight away.

if he does as suggested and covers the pipe either in bigger plastic pipe or conduit then their shouldn't be a problem of any risks. i usually do as chris said cover pipe in conduit or lager pipe and cover in expanding foam then just plaster of fill over that.

It's part of the syphon and if water overflows if goes back into the pan through the same way the water empties from the cistern. cheap or not it could still have an internal overflow, you can usually tell by a large pipe in the middle of the syphon above the water mark. and yup best thing...

ok i started as a self employed plumber this year, and was wondering how i can get trade memberships and where are the best places to go. so i can get things like sticks like s**t and get cheaper supplies for jobs. anybody have any suggestions and what i need to take down to them to prove...

just thought i'd update this topic. sparky spured off the immersion heater and did what a lot have said is bad practise. i told the customer that i wasn't going to wire it as i had been told that it was bad pratise to do it the way i was going to "off the immersion heater" but they didn't...
