Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Sorry it took a while. Is this valve open or closed?

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

There is still the gas fire and back boiler - they were yet to be removed - and a bayonet fitting in the kitchen. I don't know whether to bother having him remove them. As I said, if I just get someone else to put a new gas pipe through the first floor's voids and only connect to the boiler then...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

I closed the gas mains valve after what happened during the night. As per my earlier post he said that there was a dip of 3mb at the meter at first, 2mb after the install, but because the gas pipe is buried in the concrete ground floor, it would be easier to reroute than try to determine where...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

I'll post more pictures when I can. As for rerouting the gas pipe... Should I even mention that I may have been smelling gas (from near the meter) as requested? It's an easy job but I don't want a(nother) rushed job... Or should I just not mention it and pay someone else to come and do that...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Also the filler loop handle was in the left/anti-clock position looking from above. I presume this is indeed the open position?

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Fair enough. My only experience was when we were in Southend and the supply was from Essex & Suffolk Water. At 0 bar the boiler pressure would raise to over 3 bar with the filler loop open in around 5 seconds. I'm in Essex on the border of both London and Herts. Served by Thames Water. So you...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

I actually tried this after my last post. I wasn't convinced though because, unless I'm mistaken, leaving the filler loop open would increase the pressure to over 3 bar before the engineer could even pack up one tool - as opposed to slowly raising the pressure until passing 3 bar around 8 hours...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Probably of little interest but I'm finding this really hard to deal with. I have issues with communication and while this is something I came to terms with years ago and don't have the same anxieties (I can usually communicate easily and confidently under normal circumstances), stress really...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

The pipe sticking out the wall is plastic, and yes, I saw it connected under the floorboards before they were replaced.

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

That would be understandable if the boiler was kept out of service, but it was not. When would it not be unreasonable? If this has not been discovered for another 6+ hours? Serious question. To me it seems more like a mistake than an unfinished job as an unfinished job which is clearly not ready...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

The small pipe end/hole in front of the CH flow with the red tap is where the water was coming from. I do not know what the hose in the middle in front the gas with the yellow tap is connected to, but that leads to the pipe that exits the house.

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

I figured it would be fair to pay their quoted price minus whatever I pay someone else: http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/my-boiler-hasnt-been-installed-properly-what-can-i-do Not installing PRV correctly, possibly making a mistake which has caused the pressure to rise, then...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Total cost of installation: £1700. (Remove water cylinder and cold storage tank, gas fire, and back boiler. Install new boiler and flue. Add temporary pipe to create CH pipework circuit until we are ready to have the CH system connected to the boiler at a later date.) I stated I was looking for...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

DP, No I do not have the knowledge. I know a bit about boilers from the one at our previous house, but I have never worked on one. Aside from the legality, I do not have the confidence to work with gas whatsoever. I do not like the risks involved with gas and have never solder welded pipework...

Boiler installation problem. What to do?.

Yesterday we had a Gas Safe registered company install a Heatline Caprizplus 24a combi with a temporary loop for the central heating. My partner has just woken me up at 2.30am with water leaking out severely into the cupboard. I've had a look and the pressure was high. I do not know why. I've...

DIY Building an Extension & Building Control

So, I've decided to make this my go-to thread for general advice as we've decided we will build an extension should our finances permit. We're keeping it under 30sqm so Planning should not be required. Building an extension will be a first for me so there will be a lot to learn along the...

DIY Building an Extension & Building Control

The whole issue of sufficiently heating a standard conservatory to a comfortable level without costing a fortune in energy bills is something which causes me concern. Although I've seen people claim it is possible, the general consensus seems to be that it is just not worth it... So if I do...
