    Worth replacing antiquated boiler?

Looking at buying a flat which has an antiquated Glow-worm boiler in the kitchen and a traditional tank in the airing cupboard. I'm negotiating with the owner about whether this needs replacing in the near future. [Apologies for appalling photo] Not sure what the water pressure* is like so...

    Honeywell Evohome Fitting

Useful diagram. I created something similar which might be handy for someone who's fitting HR92s to all radiators in an S-plan system (i.e. motorised valve locked open).

    Fitting 2x BDR91s - Wiring Advice

Use the wiring diagram in the back of the Evohome installation guide and work your way through the online training first.

Air vent letting air into system

Trying to figure out how air is entering into my heating system (unvented). It was drained down over the summer and refilled with inhibitor, so I'm fairly confident that it's not corrosion. The expansion vessel is fine. Is it possible that the automatic air vent (Flamco Flex Vent) is letting...

Replace silver flexi hose on expansion vessel

Shouldn't make any difference what order you do it in. I'd leave the hot taps closed and then crack one open afterward to let out the trapped air. And one bar is the target pressure when cold.

    Honeywell Evohome System

I have a fair amount of experience with Evohome (I maintain the Windows Phone app too). It is IMHO fairly easily DIY-able provided you read the manual carefully and complete the online learning course first. The cost of the kit will be about £1200 and plan a complete day for installation if...

    How to mitre porcelain tiles

A search throws up a lot of threads about cutting mitre joints but I'm hoping for a couple of tips on specific technique. I'm planning to tile around two external corners (kitchen window) with these brick-effect tiles (http://www.tilemountain.co.uk/muralla-beige-brick-wall-tile.html). My...

    Home automation - consumer unit

Schneider do a range of home automation / lighting control stuff. Mainly seems to be fitted in hotels to allow multiple points of control but seems ideal for your job. (Starts on page 135 of their catalogue.)

    Pressure drop when pump running

Hi everyone, I've just changed a leaking radiator and had to drain my unvented system to do it. The only other change I made was to reset the expansion vessel pressure to 1 bar (it had no water in it so presumably the diaphragm is intact, but the pressure was almost zero). When off the system...

Danfoss heatplan - unsafe wiring guide

Yep, that's it. Didn't want to give colours because I'm not sure if they're standard across all motorised valves. Thanks for the reassurance. I couldn't find other threads in a quick search but imagine I was looking for the wrong thing. Can a normal system boiler actually...

Danfoss heatplan - unsafe wiring guide

I've just moved home (it's new build but I'm second owner) and come into possession of an unvented hot water system. There's a wiring guide included with the book of manuals and a quick look inside the wiring centre suggests it's been adhered to. However, it appears to be an unsafe...

eBus and 230v in same cable

I could, but one of the benefits of using the Glow Worm kit is that the boiler can modulate the heat output. Have also been looking at the Honeywell evoHome kit, but it's not a cheap setup.

eBus and 230v in same cable

Will this end in tears? Only cable between boiler (Glow Worm Flexicom sx) and wiring centre is a 5 core currently carrying 230v L, R, N, spare and earth. Looking to change to SWC2 and ClimaPro2 RF with the outdoor sensor. I'd like to repurpose the R and spare as 24V eBus but not entirely...
