    bottom of radiator is pretty cold, middle is warmish and top is slightly warmer still. the valve on one side is boiling hot as is the pipe and the valve and pipe on the other are cold/luke warm.

    you got me there, its the difference between paying £8 and having a working boiler and paying a professional to do it. if you can afford a professional to fix it, then thats fine, if you cant and i cant, then you do what you have to do. i replaced a faulty part and my boiler works fine now.
