Advice Request Regarding Laying New Floor

Thanks for the response. Grateful for advice. Was beginning to think I might need to just have a crack at it and hope for the best. Does one need special equipment to measure the boards moisture content ? Air space. There is a concrete base a foot or so below the joists. I believe...

Advice Request Regarding Laying New Floor

I'm unsure such terms were used. Just planed oak cut to order. I had a few e-mail exchanges before ordering which I've just looked up. I was assured the timber was suitable for flooring and whilst oak was a natural product and so there could not be guaranteed it would be knot free, but boards...

Advice Request Regarding Laying New Floor

Hi. I was hoping to garner advice on laying floorboards. To give a small history of the situation so far : When I first bought my house I'd not been there long when I realised one part of the dining room floor tended to give a little more than I was comfortable with. But as I didn't want...

    Fold down worktop

Hi. Yes did consider that, but I think it would be difficult to arrange what with the radiator being in the way. I can picture brackets/stays working, but I'm unsure where any leg support could go. Cheers.

    Fold down worktop

That was quick; thanks :) Yes that looks definitely worth consideration. Just one minor problem, seems everyone is out of stock of them. Ah well, I guess it isn't urgent.

    Fold down worktop

Hi. Unsure which forum to ask this but hoping this might be the most suitable. I have a rather small galley type kitchen, units down one side, bare wall (and radiator) the other, and for a while now I've been wondering if a hinged worktop on the bare wall might not be useful. Thinking along...

    Physics Puzzle

I think it depends on how you interpret the question. What is meant by "the conveyor matches the speed of the wheels" ? I take that to indicate that the belt matches the wheels so that the aircraft remains still, at a single location compared to all else (most importantly compared to the...

    Kitchen Base Unit

Just to end this one. For reasons inexplicable (other than I was there anyway and decided to check again) I discovered B&Q do actually have a few styles with a wood effect inside (rather than the less attractive white or cream). And they were willing to sell a single carcass. So problem...

"Take two toothbrushes into the bathroom?"

You only need to remove the head if you want basic hygiene ;) Out of interest, what's the charging current for toothbrushes anyway ? Just a trickle I'd have thought.

    Kitchen Base Unit

:( Just got off the phone to WKO. First thing I was told, after I explained the problem, was that it would be expensive for one-offs. I was under the impression they sold flat packs. Apparently not. They do rigid units only, and use their own transport from Wigan at £1 a mile. The AA...

    Kitchen Base Unit

I may try again, but am a little put out by "knobs on" not replying to my query. Anyone any other suggestions ? I tried "Googling" for sites, all I seem to see are companies that want to fit kitchens, none seem to specify that they are willing to supply carcass only. I'll try again this...

    Touch Dimmer

Yes, worked fine for me. I have one in the bedroom that allows me to use a remote to control it. Just one minor annoyance, occassionally my attempt to touch it 'on' somehow becomes 2 touches, 'on' then back 'off' again.

    Kitchen Base Unit

Good point. I won't be back to check details until Saturday, but from memory they are fairly light construction with only the front being that impressive. Plastic sides and back, plastic wheels. Metal runners on the carcasses, but thinner drawer base. Can't recall if base is covered...

    Kitchen Base Unit

Thanks for the responses. The original carcass is fairly dark for a pine I only know it's pine because the catalogue said that is what the 'Phoenix' style is (was). Otherwise I'd have thought it was more of an oak ; mid brown. Maybe they weren't too fussed having a separate carcase to match...

one way switch - 2 live wires, and only 1 neutral?

\\\'s are a known problem, catches most of us once :) (PS you can edit ;)) first post L1 - both reds, L2 - nothing, Common - blue subsequent post L1 - one red, L2 - nothing, Common - blue (other red terminated) last post L1 - nothing, L2 - blue, Common -...

    Kitchen Base Unit

Unsure if this is the sort of problem that can find a solution on a national forum or not, or even if this is the right one, but here's hoping. A few years back I had a local builder do some work for me, which included fitting a kitchen. Recently I had to remove base units to get to pipes...
