Maybe one for Zampa (paint problem)

I had my ceiling painted as part of an insurance claim and the paint is peeling off, see pics. I had a loss adjuster out today who rubbed the ceiling which resulted in like a white chalky dust on his finger. He said it looked like a reaction with salt. There not disputing the claim and have...

Finally finished my bathroom (a couple of pics)

I was a bit worried over using large tiles in a small bathroom, thinking it was gonna look daft but my wife fell in love with the tiles as soon as she seen them. So they were duly bought and your right Zampa large tiles do look classy.

    Increasing hot water pressure

I have recently refitted my bathroom and fitted mixer taps, previous taps were single hot and cold. Ive noticed the hot water pressure is poor as its gravity fed. I have had to put none return valves on the hot supply to basin and bath as the cold water (rising main) was blowing the hot back...

I think what i should have done was instead of making this a seperate post maybe i should just have made it a reply to my previous post http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=43963 I mixed the pva at 5/1 after speaking to a tech guy at unibond, if you read the post i have given a...

    My pva experiment

My main purpose in doing this experiment was to see if i could see a film formed on the plaster after using pva and by diluting the pva at 5/1 would it still stop some of the absorbtion. Now on that second point i dont know if the reason for using the pva is to just slow down the water...

    Confused over PVA

Nestor_Kelebay, most of what your saying is over my head. Im not a builder so i cant comment on things such as (concrete bonding agents) having never used them or come to think of it, heard of them. I cant answer your questions as i just dont have the knowledge but maybe someone else will.

    Confused over PVA

gcol, stop it your confusing me more :) jbonding, i cant really comment as my tiling experience doesnt come to much, but a lot of people seem to use pva. The last time i tiled i simply used tub adhesive and spread it over the emulsion paint in my bathroom that was 20yrs ago and those tiles...

    Confused over PVA

Ive read the post( why not to use PVA as a tiling primer) and decided i would use an acrylic primer after asking advice on here. After a long slog of a job which ive now near finished (thank god) I decided instead of doing the tiling myself i would get a tiler in, he said he would use pva as a...

I finally rang Knauf back over aquapanel vent

When deciding what to use on a newly constructed stud wall i chose aquapanel and rang Knauf to ask if it was ok to use rockwool insulation. The answer i got at the time was that aquapanel needs a vent behind it, when i mentioned that here a few people asked me to explain i said i would ring...

BAL apd, how long can you leave

Let me explain, one wall has just been built (stud wall) and has been left unskimmed, the other walls are original walls and they have a skim of plaster on them. There are 3 original walls, one is traditional construction (brick and breeze block) and has a skim of plaster over what ever they...
