Boiler pressure not dropping back to 1.2bar

Yeap, definitely only going up to just 2.0 bar when hot

Boiler pressure not dropping back to 1.2bar

8 rads. Under the capacity of the boiler. Tried tapping the gauge as someone said these are cheap parts but this didn't do anything

    Washing Machine waste pipes

No not the soil stack, straight into the drain where the rainwater from the guttering goes. We don't suffer from any foul smells.

    Washing Machine waste pipes

Just stuck the 'snake' down the pipe and there was some crud inside that I managed to push through, the usual white powdery stuff despite us not using powder and a little oily/food goo, but not much really. There's no trap on the standpipe, it's straight in to the wastepipe.

Boiler pressure not dropping back to 1.2bar

It's currently on 2.0/2.05 at the moment and it's been on for half hour. Don't think it goies much higher, maybe 2.1bar before the heating cuts out as per (I guess) the rad thermostats

    Washing Machine waste pipes

Hi We have a new washing machine and it seems that the pipework taking the waste water out can't cope with the amount of water coming out. This was also a problem for the previous machine but it didn't seem to manifest itself until years after we had moved in. What's happening now is that you...

Boiler pressure not dropping back to 1.2bar

Yeah, hours! It's off for 4 hours in the morning, plenty of time to return its 'normal' cool temperature/pressure

Boiler pressure not dropping back to 1.2bar

Hi Problem I'm having at the moment is that the boiler pressure only returns to 1.5 bar when cool. I released some pressure in the system by opening the bleed valve on a rad so it went back down to 1.3 bar but still now only returns to 1.5 bar after the heating has been on. Before all this...

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

OK I see on youtube that you can replace the valve so I think that's my next step to put a new valve in, eBay here we come. If that doesn't work I see you can also get a little extension arm with a new valve on one end, so you just screw it on to the existing valve and hey presto no dicking...

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Thought that could be the case Ian. SO without the application of silicone grease the schraeder valve is blowing pretty bubbles with some soapy water on it after I've pressurised the EV. CULPRIT! Are these changable, or is it a case of a new EV?

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Gonna do this later today, would WD40 (or similar) do the same thing or would that damage the rubber seal? Don't think I have silicone grease (I don't have silicone grease!)

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

I found one guy who knew about Halstead Boilers, Mike Prideaux - Winchester, (after having a checkatrade Poke and Go guy do just that) do some work on it a while back (new pump), I think he's retired know though so it puts me back at the risk of getting someone with no clue. I figured at least...

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Really, what a ball ache, but cheaper than a new boiler for sure. Suppose it'll be easier 2nd time around. just to mention, I've never seen anyone else do this when they've come to service the boiler lol

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

not had the heating on tbh. As it stands the heating is fine but I know that there's something wrong, as I say the boiler seems happy enough with the cold pressure at around0.5/0.6 bar on the boiler. I don't think it was going much above 1.6 when it was hot and then cuts out automatically. If I...

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Is it easy to fit a new one then? For some reason I thought the whole boiler had to come off the wall to replace the one on a Halstead Ace High

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Yeah, I believe so, follow the instructions I got on here last year. Release the water from the system so the boiler shows 0.0 bar, pump the EV which expels the water, drain the water, pump again, drain again, pump again untill all water out of the EV then fill to I think it was 0.8bar, maybe...

Replace EV or just get a new boiler?

Hi We have a Halstead Ace combi boiler in our place that we've been in for 12 years (it was already there). It seems to need the EV replacing as I repressurised it last year but I'm still facing the same problem now. The boiler drops to about 0.5/0.6 bar and works away happily but if you fill...

Low Pressure on Halstead Ace High

Gentlemen thank you very much. I've had the heating on for 45 minutes or more and it's come to the point where it has switched itself off automatically as it's up to heat and the pressure has not gone over 1.5 bar at any point. Before it would have gone up to/over 2.6. I'll do another bleed of...

Low Pressure on Halstead Ace High

That all makes sense to me, however this is what's happening:\ The water stoped coming from the drain point - fine (I left it open) I pressurised the EV to the correct Bar - fine Yet the boiler is showing about 0.4 bar pressure surely this should be at zero shouldn't it? Or is this pressure it...

Low Pressure on Halstead Ace High

So I just keep pumping? How do I know when the water is out of the EV? And then once it's out do I deflate the EV from the Schrader valve again so that I can then fill it to the correct pressure (0.75 bar)? That sounds slightly counterintuitive, if I release the air from the EV doesn't that just...
