    Expansion/feeder tank height

C'mon guys...a qualified guess will suffice.

    Expansion/feeder tank height

A conversion to a sealed system has been mentioned...may have to consider it if nothing works out! Reluctant to go with a sealed system as rads are old...fear a pressurised system could force leaks...nowhere down below to situate a fill loop, would have to keep going into loft to...

    Expansion/feeder tank height

looking to change boiler...manufacturer says the minimum head of pressure between header tank and boiler heat exchanger is 2m - Would this be to the header tank bottom or to the water level inside? Have only got 1.71m presently to header tank bottom and have had no problems with present...

    CH pump location

Pardon my ignorance... MI's? Just to be sure...regarding the positioning of pump vertically alongside bottom end of boiler on flow pipe out of top of boiler to attain adequate head height would be for all practical purposes OK, yes?

    CH pump location

No there is not room above as it will be a wall hung boiler and the expansion tank head height has become an issue thanks to Agile! :) I have looked at the Buderus it doesn't appear to have an integral pump, also its dimensions don't allow much room around it for where it is to be...

    CH pump location

I now see why the pump is presently located (rather awkwardly) in the boiler casing!...the expansion tank water level is presently 2.48m above the pump...if I put the pump in the loft it reduces down to 1.28m - clearly not enough. I can't really move the expansion tank any higher and there is...

    CH pump location

I was going to change to a combi and put the boiler in the loft as I've mentioned on this forum before, but problems with potential installers (CORGI) all having differing views as to the viability and legality (regs wise) of having it there, and them not actually coming back with a quote p'd me...

    CH pump location

Yes, it will be a conventional condensing boiler...doesn't come with the pump integral; hence the re-location of present pump which was fitted within the boiler casing originally. Can't grasp what you mean about the "2m head above" - can you explain further. The boiler will be situated in...

Cheers Paul, you have been most helpful.

    CH pump location

Thanks Paul. Yes the hot water is on a gravity system; everything bar the boiler and pump is in the loft. It is an ‘S’ plan system fully pumped open vent system. The flow and return come off the boiler up into the loft where the bathroom rad is tapped off…the flow and return continues on...

    CH pump location

Replacing my current boiler in the kitchen (which has the pump below it within the casing) to one where the pump will have to in the loft. I need to know if there is anything to consider regarding its location and performance. The most suitable (most practical physically) place puts it...

    Flow/Return on Concord WCF 460

Single storey 3 bedroom, 2 living room, 1 bathroom detached....what else you need to know? Will put insulation back after plumbing and boarding is done...is there an alternative to that horrible itchy stuff?

    Flow/Return on Concord WCF 460

No I have no loft insulation; took it up when cleaning clearing the loft. May well re-install it later...although can't stand the awful stuff....have double-glazing though. hmmm...so I need a less powerful one?..property is a 11 rad single storey one bathroom, with S-plan system and cylinder...

    Flow/Return on Concord WCF 460

Cheers Agile...Indeed the pump is pumping towards the boiler and the hottest pipe is the top one. It has been an excellent boiler...never had a problem other than the pump failing twice over 25+ years...unfortunately for the sake of efficiency/economy it has to go. Can you recommend a...

    Flow/Return on Concord WCF 460

Is the flow connection the one on the top left hand side and the return the bottom right side (looking from front of boiler)? If it is, it looks like the pump (at bottom of boiler) is connected to the return going into the boiler - is that normal?...thought the pump is supposed to be on the...

    Vaillant ecoMax pro 28E

Thanks guys. Yes it is for an open vented system. Which is cheaper, Glowworm or Vaillant?...are there any better make/models for a similar boiler? I was going to go for a change to a combi system, but cost, boiler location issues, and the fact combis have more bits that can and do go...

    Vaillant ecoMax pro 28E

Considering it as a replacement....is it a good boiler?...any known issues? I will be using a condensate pump with it... Views and advice much appreciated.

    Indirect cylinder?

I'm looking at a boiler to replace my existing one....the boiler spec require the open-vent cylinder to be of the "double feed fully indirect coil type"...what is that?..what does double feed mean? My existing cylinder is an open-vent combi cylinder with an immersion heater connect ed also - is...

    CH system choice

Currently I have a open vented conventional system on which the boiler needs changing...problem is it has virtually been trouble free for years, but the boiler is on its last legs and I need to make a decision...do I change to a combi system or just replace the boiler with a modern condensing...
