    Insulation under staircase

Hi, Recently on the advice from this forum i insulated under the floorboards in the sitting room which made a big difference to heatloss and drafts. This was done by stapling netting supporting eco wool. There are still cold drafts in the downstairs hall and staircase. The hall will be...

EV pressure for a greenstar 28i junior

Hi, After stupidly releasing the air pressure from the expansion vessel on this boiler I now need to charge it. I have bought a footpump for the job and have read the faq for doing this, however I cant find the required pressure in the literature for the boiler. Does anybody know the...

    Possible faulty boiler?

Mulls 76, from what i have read about the ev, it would seem that i have indeed let the pressure out of it. But now I am curious why the system is now kicking in fully and heating up quickly like it did when first installed when I switch the heating on, and can i re-charge it my self with...

    Possible faulty boiler?

Hi Joe, I found a valve on the top at the back, which is similar to a tyre valve with a screw cap, so i pushed in the pin and expelled lots of air. This reduced the pressure in the system to 0. i topped it up to just over 1 bar and fired it up. It kicked in fully and the pipes are hotter than...

Hi, 1) Our new worcester 28i junior has a twin channel dt20 digital timer however our old 28i junior (previous property) had a mt10 mechanical timer which we much prefered as we dont work set hours monday - friday and it was easy to flick the 15 minute incrament switches. I have found the...

    Possible faulty boiler?

Ok just rechecked the boiler and my original description was incorrect, I think I am confusing the fan and the pump noise. Here is what I think is going on now: Switch the heating on, seems to fire up ok, can hear the fan whirling, can hear it igniting and then the green "flame" light comes...

    Possible faulty boiler?

    Possible faulty boiler?

Hi, I have a worcester 28i junior boiler. When it was installed in March, I can remember that when the heating was switched on I could hear the pump kick in straight away and then the heating would be hot very quickly. The heating was not used since then until recently, however now when the...

    Plywood over floorboard question

Hi, I had uneven floorboards and on the advice i had from this forum i put down 6mm ply. It has improved which is great. I do however have some gaps between boards where i have had to cut them to fit as I only had a jigsaw and couldnt get it perfectly straight. We intend on carpeting with a...

    inhibitors with plastic pipes ?

Hi, thanks for the replies. No pipes run externally so i wont use anti-freex then. The x100 dose states that the 1 litre bottle does a typical heating system, ie 9-32kw boiler, hot water cylinder and up to ten radiator panels. Overdosing does not present a problem. I have a worcester 28i...

Gutten Morgen!! (or something) I am almost ready to fill my new system which is fitted with hep20 barrier pipe and fittings. I want to put the right additives in. I have been down to local plumb store and bought sentinel x100, however it doesnt state if it can be used with plastic. The guy in...

Flow and return to one side of the radiator?

The rad is actualy the the oposite, 400 wide and 700 high (trying to make good a small wall). So with this narrow rad, do you think it will be ok to run the flow/trv to the bottom right and the return/lockshield to the top right? or do you think it will be unbalanced? pippo

Flow and return to one side of the radiator?

Evening folks, On another thread I was looking at running pipes in behind skirting as the kitchen has a concrete floor with laminate on top and i dont want to dig it up. I was wondering if it is possible to to put the trv and lockshield on the top and bottom of the righthand side of the...
