Tiles are usually 4mm+ so 7mm seems fine. What difference does it make if it's thicker?

How do you level furniture and protect carpet?

No point placing things under furniture unless you're likely to be moving stuff around. To get indents out of carpet just leave a pile of ice cubes on the indent and the pile will bounce back. To level the furniture, just wegde a piece of wood or cardboard under teh front edge

    Smoother Walls

You can get printed splashbacks from the sheds however, a plasterer will cost about £20 to sort out the mess. My advice, do the job right. You will have spent a few ££ on the kitchen, £20 is a false saving.

    Help/Advice Needed - PLASTERING !!

Interesting topic. Here's my 2p: I had a plasterer in the other day. He said it was a dying trade. New houses (his bread & butter) are typically not using plasterers but just taping and painting the plasterboards.

    wrap or replace exhaust?

No not really, there is a hole in the front for waste gasses to go in and one at the back to let it all out! You can also have holes that have not made it all the way through the exhaust. Prudence may say repair /replace the exhaust at that point. Again, you are ill informed, thermal...

    wrap or replace exhaust?

And a classic case of not reading the post. My quote and the quote from the tester says nothing about leaks nor the full extent of the checks performed on an exhaust. All I said was the exhaust had a hole in it. *If* it was leaking, then that *may* come under the category of excessive wear. I...

Removing itchen tiles - appear superglued!

Keep smashing away! The plaster in the plasterboard where the hob was will have dried out - it may be almost chalky and just crumble away. You will never get tiles off without damaging the plasterboard. That's life. Get a plasterer in to sort out the mess. guaranteed he'll have seen a...

    wrap or replace exhaust?

Not the case. If it passes, it's a pass. If it fails, it's a fail. "anything that looks like a bodge" is not a fail. Proving case: My exhaust has a hole in it and I asked the garage to replace the part before its MOT last week. The part did not arrive, but the car passed the MOT. The...

    Kicker Heater in Kitchen

I looked at these recently to replace one that was out of service in my kitchen (that should say it all). You can buy hydronic heaters on ebay from around £100. I spoke to my heating engineer and he said they are more trouble than they are worth. Fit a few lights with GU10 bulbs in them that...

    Strength of patio slabs

It's not the strength of the slabs you need to worry about but how they are laid. If there are any pressure points under the slabs, they will break. You won't compress the slabs with the vehicle if teh slabs are on a flat surface.
