Where to get 90 deg 1 1/2" push fit

Thanks everyone. In an ideal world I would have asked here before going to shops and buying various different sizes - but at least I know now!

Where to get 90 deg 1 1/2" push fit

Discovered a leak coming from the loft which turned out to be the overflow of the water tank. The overflow comes out from the tank then turns 90 degrees to head outside. The 90 bend is leaking from where the overflow enters it and appears cracked. So far as I can tell from measuring (I cut a...

Replacing old socket. Connection to "functional earth"

Thanks all for the comments. I've tried to upload the file but keep getting errors. If I try to upload the image as a file it says "there was a problem uploading your file", if I try to add new media it says "The server responded with an error. The error message is in the JavaScript console."...

Replacing old socket. Connection to "functional earth"

Hi all, Not sure the subject of this post makes sense so will explain. I am replacing an socket in my 80s house with a new one with USB chargers as well as 3 pin. The old socket had live, neutral and earth as usual and nothing else. The new one has these but the instructions say that "an earth...

Leaking radiator valve - temporary bodging advice needed!

Thanks all. At least I might be able to pay for the job by selling the mushrooms that are likely to start sprouting from the carpet soon!

Leaking radiator valve - temporary bodging advice needed!

Due I think to an overenthusiastic game of hide and seek, one of our radiators has developed a leak. It's on the lockshield valve side and appears to be from where the microbore pipe goes into the valve. I've had a bad experience with microbore in the past so have gone straight for a plumber...

How hot should my shower get?

Just to update anyone that might be interested (a small group I should think), we got the Aqualisa engineer in, he checked and then replaced the shower and it still tripped. He then checked the installation and confirmed it was ok. He reckoned changing the RCD might work as he's come across this...

How hot should my shower get?

Thanks for that, will investigate. It does have a low flow warning, but it's never been displayed. Happily it's under warranty and the installer isn't running away (yet) so all is not lost.

How hot should my shower get?

Sorry for delay, reply notification was turned off for some reason. SLX is 8.5KW. The guy that installed it fitted separate breaker from the main consumer unit - photo attached. Looks like 63A RCD and 50A MCB if I read it right. It's the switch on the left that trips. Thanks.

How hot should my shower get?

We recently had a new bathroom fitted and I now have an Aqualisa Vitalise SLX shower. It's very fancy, but sometimes when showering around 43c it will trip the circuit breaker. It seems to be that the unit's overheat sensor is shutting down a heating element and the resulting surge is tripping...

Intermittent light fault - diagnosis help please!

Just seen the new posts. Re rose: terminology error on my part. The thing I replaced had a box at the top, a cable hanging down, and a bayonet fitting at the end. I removed the old ugly light and put a shade on the thing I just fitted. Re wiggling: I was wondering if there was a tiny...

Intermittent light fault - diagnosis help please!

Thanks both. I took the new (I think) bulb out and it turned out one of the pins on the side was loose and there was rattling inside. I put a different bulb in and it worked. This may yet be a case of multiple duff bulbs, although maybe it only broke when I was wiggling to get it working in the...

Intermittent light fault - diagnosis help please!

Hi, Advice needed please. The light in our hall has an intermittent fault and I can't work out what to do/test. The light can be operated from a single switch by the kitchen or a multiple switch by the front door that also controls the upstairs and outside security lights. It is earthed...
