    Howdens kitchens

You need to set up decent terms with howdens. If they tell you that when you buy a lot then you can have good discounts, tell them that unless they give you good discounts, you cant buy alot. I get 70% off units, 80% off panels/plinths etc, 60% off worktops. These are the figures i would aim...

buying a boiler, manufacturer and accessories?

That is just Darwin in action. I guy near me killed himself when he angle grinded an empty gas cylinder in half because he thought it would make a nice plant pot. I heard the bang. If we shouldn't do anything potentially dangerouse then should halfords stop selling me brake pads when I am not a...

buying a boiler, manufacturer and accessories?

I like to think I am a bit more than a DIYer. Although I am not a tradesman, I work in the trade and I have now built 2 houses entirely myself from below the ground up. ok I have paid for a plaster as that is more of an art, but that is it. So I have done it myself but it is a bit more than Do...

buying a boiler, manufacturer and accessories?

Most industries see competence as someone being Suitably qualified and experienced. A lot of people see it as just qualified. I would much rather do my own boiler work than use someone who is newly qualified. You are right though, I did not intend for a debate on competence, I simply asked a...

buying a boiler, manufacturer and accessories?

Dont think he would ever do anything that would risk. Just because i dont have a certificate does not mean i am not competent to do it. Most of it aint difficult (note i said most). I thought the regs state that someone should be competent, not necessarily qualified. Competent is ambigous term...

buying a boiler, manufacturer and accessories?

I will be doing the install myself apart from the bits i am not allowed to eg, the final gas connections (about 1 metre away from from the meter). I employ plumbers all the time with my line of business so shouldnt have a problem with getting someone to finish it off, check it and certify it. I...

having removed a section of slab to case a new strip foudation, i discovered the slab was laid on a 12 to 18" layer of flint stones. This i guess can not absorb moisture or form capillaries so i guess is my damp proof layer. Has anyone else ever come across this?

how to form new foundation for wall in existing slab

I am putting in a new foundation to extend a wall that is load bearing The slab is only around 4-6" thick and this is laid on flint which is about 12" thick. There is no DPC bu i guess the moisture can not rise throught the flint as there are no damp problems I have dug down to solid...
