Oil heating - access through house problem

I have been using the same supplier for the last 10 years as they are the only one I ever found that would take the oil supply pipe through my house out to the tank. They where a local supplier and recently haven been taken over by a larger company. They will no longer supply me. I have enough...

    Painting an outdoor kids playhouse

Hi, I am buying a kids playhouse (Palmako Felix playhouse). It is made of tongue and grooved natural Nordic spruce. I can't find any information on if it is treated timber. I have emailed the company regarding this and await their reply. As it's a playhouse it will be finished with bright...

    Windows 10

Backing up is always a good idea as every computer fails eventually, regardless of what version of windows you choose to use. To answer your question succinctly, nothing you have saved (pics, documents, programs etc) will be affected by upgrading....work away

    Rawplug question

I have used both methods at different times and had no problems with either. I have never had a plug spin on me, but could see how it would happen if the plaster was weak. I suspect the first scenario is stronger, but was wondering what others think/do.

    Rawplug question

I tend to only use Uno rawplugs for most jobs (I always have a stock of them) but at times find them a little small in length. I have often wondered which of the following 2 methods are strongest. At times the screw needing to be used is a little longer than the plug (yes I could use a longer...

    appropriate anchor bolts/fixings?

Sounds ideal - thanks. Never used epoxy resin/resin fixings before but seems pretty straightforward. One quick query as never used before Do I need to avoid drillling right through the brick into the cavity behind. I assume if I do this then the resin will just pump itself out into the...

    appropriate anchor bolts/fixings?

In the process of securing several wooden planters I built. All but one are up as I have left the most complicated one to the end (the others were put up with standard bolts and frame fixings on some of the larger ones were I couldn't get a bolt to) This last one is the largest of the lot...

    matt finish on exterior wood?

[/url] Thanks everyone for your responses. I didn't think leaving undercoat as the top coat would be a good idea. Cheers for the link to the mythic - too expensive of course once they add delivery to Ireland. Will decide between masonary (only worry is the wood moving etc through the...

    matt finish on exterior wood?

just seems like the rest a lower sheen - nothing completely flat. Must just be no demand for such a product - cant find it anywhere.....just have to settle for low sheen or Can you leave the likes of the Dulux weathershield undercoat as a finish (few coats of course) or will that not hold up...

    matt finish on exterior wood?

I am looking to build and paint white a few wooden planters soon and am a little unsure of how to achieve the finish I want. I am looking for a flat white finish with no sheen/shine. I will of course prep, apply a suitable primer and undercoat. I had a quick look around and can only see the...

    rads Ok upstairs, freezing downstairs.

I suspect this might be the problem as the tops of all rads are hot and the bottoms not so much....indicating as i understand what I've read elsewhere, sludge build up Nevertheless will try rebalancing as you have instructed. I appreciate your assistance - thanks

    rads Ok upstairs, freezing downstairs.

Thanks, John. I will try and balance them as you have instructed.......what confuses me is why did they work OK for the last few years? No one has touched the lockshield valves during that time - only me last night when the downstairs rads failed. The fact that they all worked OK till 48 hours...

I turned all the valves of on the rads that were working and turned the boiler on and the heat went ok to the downstairs, but once i turned on the upstairs again (i turned the lockshield valves on but even not as much as they were before)...

    rads Ok upstairs, freezing downstairs.

As it says in the title, all the rads upstairs are perfect and all the ones downstairs are ice cold! New problem just happened last 2 days and before I call a plumber in I wanted to check if it could be something simple? What are the likely causes of such a problem Thanks

Its a wooden shed and the window goes in from the inside. Very straight forward - just looking to use the same product as the maker did at first as it was very effective. Its a very sturdy well built shed so have little worries re vibrations etc. Still good to know about the tape for future...
