Isolating a single downlighter onto its own circuit?

That all sounds easy enough. a bit like taking a spur from a plug socket... Hang on a sec though wouldn't the single light only work when the other circuit was switched on if I took the live from the other circuit?

Isolating a single downlighter onto its own circuit?

Hi I have a circuit of 5 downlighters in the bathroom and i want to isolate one of the lights to run on its own with a new switch so that when the Mrs gets up at stupid o'clock in the morning to go to work as a Postie (amendment - sometimes go to work...), she doesn't blind herself with the...

Green water came out of mains supply

OK I am still monitoring the pressure but if i do lose some pressure then this would suggest I have a leak and this would also mean o2 entering the system via the leak point, wouldn't it? Also I have to say that the system seems to be quieter than before we went away. I do have all the rads...

Green water came out of mains supply

After a lot of messing about with the boiler prior to going away the pressure dropped to 0.3 whilst i was away and not sure if i have a leak in the pipework or it has gone out the PRV. Monitoring the situation now but have filled up the system with fresh water and there is a chance this may be...

Green water came out of mains supply

Hi. Been away for a month and turned off the water supply to the property and drained the water in the pipes by opening all the taps before I left. (closed the taps when drained) When I came home and turned on the mains supply the first water that came out of all the taps was green...

    leaving boiler on whilst away

Hi Going away soon, over what seems to be a very cold spell. Although my boiler supposedly has an automatic system that turns it on if it gets too cold, Is it worth me turning the heating on everynight for a while to stop it freezing up or is it ok for the pipes to freeze and defrost on their on?

    Boiler pressure gone up???

system seems to be behaving now - going up to 2 bar when heating is on and returning to 1.3-1.5 bar when off. Nothing is coming out of the PRV pipe so I'm gonna watch the system to see what happens.

    Boiler pressure gone up???

Hi After recently finding my PRV was leaking I took it off to replace but ended up just cleaning it out as all the plumbers merchants were closed when I took it off on a Saturday at 11.30am. This clean actually stopped it leaking and I thought i would give it a few days just to check...

    Damage to boiler?

Just a little update This morning after filling up my system to 1.5bar yesterday I have lost no pressure. I don't want to say it in case I tempt fate, so I won't say it but you get the idea. :)

    Damage to boiler?

I just looked them up, judging by the logo they're the same people. Either way they're right next door to each other. Ta. Trying to put the PRV back on i managed to thread the screw on the inlet side. I thought i was buggered but i've managed to bodge it with a bit of ptf. yeehah! The...

    Damage to boiler?

Ha Ha Ha. I remember reading 'don't start working on something important at 10pm on a saturday night in case it all goes wrong cos you won't get a call out at that time'. Well, i started working on this at 11am on a saturday morning. No problem i thought, will be able to get a new PRV at...

    Damage to boiler?

The situation is that i think the PRV is leaking as i opened it when i removed the SHE to clean it with ds3. I think this is the cause of my losing pressure as there is water coming from the pipe outside the house. I will drain the system before i replace the valve. Is it easy to...

Hi, If I run the boiler on a low pressure (0.5 bar) whilst I get round to changing the pressure relief valve will it do the boiler any damage? Ta
