Felt shingles / drip edge / playhouse / shed roof

I'm in the process of building a shed / playhouse and have bought some drip edge from ebay. Looks like a good way to secure the felt around the edges and also end up with a nice neat finish. However, I have seen conflicting advice with regards to fitting. Sense suggests that it shold go under...

    ventilation for a summer house

I am doing the same - but with a few changes..... roof is OSB, walls will be studs with insulation, membrane onto the outside of the studs, 2x1 on the outside to then allow cladding to be attached with an air gap between the cladding and the membrane. I was looking at the following for the...

    Shed floor DPM ?

I am building a playhouse / shed in the garden - about 2sqm. The base is constructed using 2x4 treated timber, lifted up a little (~2 inches) on legs of 2x4 to raise it off the slab patio that I am constructing it on top of. I have boarded the floor area with 18mm exterior ply, screwed to the...

    Cladding underlay for a shed

I'm building a 2sqm 'shed'. This will initially be a playhouse, but will later become a shed or even outside office. I'm framing it using 3x2, the floor is 18mm ext ply and will be likely be covered with laminate (have some spare) or floor tiles. Outside will be 19mm thick loglap. I am not...

Building a playhouse - first the base

Hmm because it's not toughened surface? its about a tenner for approx 420x600 3mm. Had a Google and found shed windows.co.uk - choice of polycarbonate or acrylic. Poly looks a few £ more - supposed to be clear as glass. Reasonable choice? 457mm Sq about right for 2 I am the front, one in the...

Building a playhouse - first the base

Looking at about a £ per m for treated shiplap, so about £180 in all. Looking at perspex sheets from eBay for Windows - 3mm thick in A2 size. Meant for art but look perfect and cheap.

Building a playhouse - first the base

Great - thanks. I'll probably clad 3 sides - but good tip regards the restricted space.

Building a playhouse - first the base

So do you think 2x3 is ok, for a 2100mm Sq shed? With bearers at 500mm centres?

Building a playhouse - first the base

Broadly, yes. The playhouse I basing this on is about 330. But that's built using 28mmx28mm framing! If I suggested using that for a home built shed, you lot would shoot me! I'd rather spend the same, build to my spec (a bit bigger), and have a go myself!

Building a playhouse - first the base

They are 6 and 3 (7 and 4 by the summer). I am happy to spend the time making something that will last, as it will become a shed for me after they have finished with it! As its not a huge workshop type building, would 2x3 bearers be sufficient for the wall joists and rafters ? Small changes...

Building a playhouse - first the base

Morning all, My current project is to build a playhouse for our 2 girls. I've looked around the net for flat packed deliveries - some look really good, but on closer inspection appear to be made of cardboard. Internal frames built using 2x1 (at the most!), flimsy roofing etc etc. I am not a...

Bathroom refit - but whats this ???

shackles ?! Nah - they're in the loft! :) Could it have been a bucket hook or something slung over the blocks as the house was built that someone forgot to move before it was fixed in place ?

Bathroom refit - but whats this ???

I've just chipped of the bit of plasterboard next to it, and have got a much better look. For a start, it is solid metal and it looks like the red is painted and not a plastic cover. I can srape it off easily to reveal a dull metal below - its like a iron bar. Also, after the curl, it stops and...

Bathroom refit - but whats this ???

Hmm - not sure if I can without making too much of a mess. I'm not planning on removing the ceiling plaster, or doing any work in the wall above. I can prob just board and tile back over it, but I'm intrigued to know what it is now!
