    Patio height advice

That's a great help thanks, I was thinking of something similar but in addition setting a channel against the house to move any standing water to either side and a natural soak away - that way standing water won't be a problem and splash back shouldn't be either as it is a very sheltered garden...

    Patio height advice

Thanks r896neo my other thought was to put a drain against the house to run to a soak away then slab from there onward, making sure from there onwards the slabs angle away from the house to the soak away I've dug?

    Patio height advice

Hi, I think I've made a bit of an error on my patio height. As you can see from the pic the concrete base is 2 brick courses below the DPC and 1 below the aide brick - I was hoping to reuse some riven slabs but once bedded they'll come up to 1 and1/4 bricks below DPC and 1/4 brick below...

Hi I'm after a bit of advice. I'm thinking of building a small (2 courses of brick) wall to step up from the patio to the lawn. The garden is basically flat but the step up from the patio to lawn will be approx 1 and 1/2 bricks high, after this the garden is flat. My question is, do I...

    Concrete volume

Hi, I'm putting down a concrete base for a patio and just want to double check my figures. The area is 11sqm and I'm putting down 100mm bed so I've worked out I need 80 x 25kg bags of ballest and 20 x 25k bags of cement. Just don't want to be short over the weekend! Ta John

Re packing a towel rail valve

It's just started leaking where the spindle goes into the nut - think it started when the missus open the valve for more heat. I'll try opening right up the closing - but I assume to only way I can get to the o-ring is from the reverse

Re packing a towel rail valve

Hi, I've got a weeping valve on my towel rail. The valves are the chrome cylinder style but on this one there is a circlip and it appears to be sprung loaded. In the past I've loosened the nut and wrapped ptfe tape round the spindle then tightened up the nut to stop the leak. So is it...

    Extension Flooring advice

John, Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. I was thinking of mixing it on site as it is a terraced house, so if i have it delivered it will all have to be barrowed through the house - but i might think again on this one! Also one the screed is down and dry, would you recommend...
