No the pipes are copper just paints a matt grey colour, un the airing cupboard and under the sink. Just seems a waste of time 2 do this, however I have no intention of rubbing them all down!!

Well guys game over, firstly it took an hour 2 drain!!! And yes I managed to install the rads. But.......the main sticking point was is it going to refill...... I did plunge some solder in the pipe first and guess what it filled OK......PHEW Had a problem with the pumps one of them...

The pipe to the left? I will do is ensure it's clear before refilling. Does scale causes the blockage? Nickso and Corgiman thanks so much for your advice. Cheers

Thanks guys, I'm looking at draining the system on Thursday. So from what you say I drain the entire store then I drain the heating at the lowest point is this correct? When I come to refill will the store fill first then I bleed the rads, or do I have to manually switch anything? Fingers...

i'm looking to drain down the heating to install a couple of new towel rails, but in my old house all I had to do was isolate the mains water to the header tank in the roof. However I now have a Boilermate 2, do I just isolate the water on the tank on the top of the boilermate? Many Thanks
