It's my place but I am not going to pull the laminate as the leak was only a small drip that must have started yesterday when I used the washing machine & the vibration affected the connection on the hot pipe at the washing machine end.

Just moved into a new house & realised the washing machine was leaking & it appears to have got under the laminate that is in the kitchen as the edging is a little blown. Without taking up the laminate is there a way to assist the laminate drying out? Thanks

I've been out all of today so thought I would put the radiator on in the bathroom only to try & get it to dry out as much as possible. Came home tonight & it smells worse than ever. Seems odd.

Just done a quick calculation online & I get a figure of 4422 BTUs so that says to me that a 600x800 double should be ok, but it really is not, well does not seem to be.

The exsiting TRVs are all Danfoss & are horizontally mounted as opposed to vertical like most modern ones I have seen.

Would this be worth it on a heating system this old though? They are unreliable in as much as if they are not fully open the radiator pretty much goes off.

I do have TRVs on all rads except the one nearest the boiler (bypass), but I find them very unreliable maybe due to their age. I also do not have a room stat and instead control everything from the boiler, an aging WB240RSF, but a work horse that I have kept going for the last 6 years.

Yeah I thought they were the worse kind due to the value not being on the end & also because it is recessed. The only thing I could think of was to remove the rad, turn upside down & the fill with a hose. Then with the TRV & lockshield in place, seal the water in & replace on the pipe stalks...

Hi There Most of the windows in my house use friction hinges but all just fly open, and so there is no marginal opening amount, they are either completely closed or fully open. Is there a way to repair these hinges such as greasing them? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure it is a product like that as I have seen similar & all are expensive. The panel on my mate bathroom wall just seems simply, thin & I am assuming reasonable in price?

A mate of mine recently moved into a rented house & on the bathroom walls surrounding the bath there is very thin, cream coloured plastic approximately 4mm thick & in large panels/sheets. I think this material makes a brilliant splash back/water proof barrier but can't for the life of me work...
