Scratched a gas pipe with a saw

Gasmick2 you are describing what a qualified RGI would do among other safety procedures, we are talking to joe public, if you tell them exactly what to do they will try and do it themselves (if they have little common sense or want to save money), also possibly putting their life and others at...

    Sharing pipes with neighbours

I concur leedsplumber is right, common all over, cost is to you and your next door neighbour if you are friendly with them! Solution is to fit two stop taps, one for you and secondary with direct flow to your neighbour, where practicably possible of course. Have seen neighbours fall out, when...

    Main Medway Super problem

Gentlemen, gentlemen, we are here to offer advice to joe public on plumbing + heating issues, NOT, cast personal dispersions on each other  Joe Public will think all RGI's are absolute nutters :? I can arrange pistols at dawn in a field of your choosing and a suitable second can be...

    Gas Cooker pipe problem

Cooker MI's state where to position the gas connection, a RGI would site it as per them and if the gas pipe is way out of position, rectify it accordingly. You could fit a hob and have a built in cooker elsewhere, the options are endless

Soil should be a metre above windows etc, if you terminate below the loft windows then, this will not conform to BR's :?

Radiators still warm when stat turned off

This depends on a few factors, you obviously use the hot water? One or two rads will get warm when DV goes back to CH mode. Pump overrun will put some heat around circuit, depends on the size of the dwelling ie. how far apart the rads are.... Does a washing machine have a hot and cold feed?

    Is this a fault

The HEX is an expensive part + labour  Not sure if it was a design fault or an installation issue, if the rep/engineer says it is a bit of crud in there then who are we to argue. Under warranty so nothing the bother, if you have had the install done correctly as per MI, then this might...

    Boiler Mounted in garage

If your garage isn't insulated, most aren't, a good installer would of fitted a frost stat as a matter of course. Boilers don't like the cold, and obviously can cause problems if pipes freeze etc... If you aren't sure about the settings on your stat I would suggest when you get them (EON)...

Scratched a gas pipe with a saw

Glad you are getting a competent guy to cut-out and repair the problem  I would also ask him to check the rest of the gas pipe installation, as obviously some of the pipe might not be placed correctly under the floor, OR I would use a shorter saw in future :P Get him to put gas pipe...

    worcester 9.24 problem

With you "changing," the bits yourself I guess you regularly serviced the boiler as per MI's :? every year? I am surprised it has lasted this long without proper maintenance... Those parts are quite a few pennies, I wouls recommend you consider a new boiler. New money into an old boiler...

Opinions please on this combi install? All ok? Pics attached

Hi all, One of the most important remedies that can be done is to upgrade the white condensate pipe to min 35mm, some MI's stipulate that an external run can't be more than 3 metres and have a certain amount of fall per metre. If he has left the MI's you can read that part in there :wink...

Boiler PUMA 100e pressure 3.6cold, over 5.2 hot. IS IT SAFE?

In short no! The pressure relief safety valve (PRV) should of opened at 3Bar pressure  The low pressure light came on, this normally happens as dirt and magnetite is blocking the diaphram to the sensor for low pressure sensor (common problem on those boilers). All the landlord did was...

    new combi boiler system.

Afraid you are stuck my friend! If it's a council house you don't have a choice in the matter, unless you know someone in the council  Granted they are up-grading your boiler, but, the choice of system is their control. Unless you pay and negotiate some upgrades that I would assume...
