    Scaffolding Prices

Why cant they put a ladder up to have a look at the problem? Your house is two storey you say, ground floor and first floor. Do you live on a steep hill so dangerous to put a ladder up? Scaffolding price doesnt seem crazy but is it needed for what may be a broken tile or slipped flashing?

...another flat roof...... temp fix possible?

Was just going to suggest that! Agree with Woody. Get black polythene instead of the blue for less noticible appearence. If you batten the polythene down around the sides of the garage roof (not the roof surface!) if doesnt need any weighting down & doesnt look too bad if you do it neatly.

    Plasma switches itself off

Hi, have an LG50PS3000, 16 months old. 3 weeks ago picture occasionally would go slightly fuzzy & pink tint. Then tv would switch itself off & have to be switched back on. Last week it switched itself off & would not come back on at all. Well, it would light up the screen for a split second...

tv interferance with sky when aerial plugged in

What channel did you change the rf output to? If it was set to ch68 change it to ch21, ie a good change in frequency. Could also be poor quality coax with poor shielding. Try not to run any coax along the length of any electric cables, only run across them.

Install log burner in timber summerhouse

Yes, flue will need to be twin wall, so i believe 50mm to combustable material! 450mm for single skin flue. Also believe the decorative hearth can be 12mm without need for constructional base, as long as the stove base temp does not exceed 100 degrees C. Tell me if im wrong!

Flat roof between two hip bay roofs

Agree with Noseall & SRE for all points. For the fillet, use off-cuts from your 18mm ply, good lengths obviously not a jigsaw puzzle. You could have several options if you really had to have a 'gutter' under the tiles: Form lead or even run a batten as a gutter about 3'' from the tiles...

    new fascias and soffits

Havent fitted grp fascias so cant comment there. Upvc does the job fine and you can get it in black if you want ( at nearly double the price of white). You may be better off not removing the existing timber fascias if theyre solid as you may do more harm than good to the rafter ends. If you do...

Full house renovation # 1: Set out concrete floor

I do agree with you Noseall re BC. What about the dpm regards the pillar. Under the foundation and fold up? What about this pillar dpm and the fact the rest of the room dpm will be laid under the insulation. What should be done where these two dpm's 'cross' at different heights?

    Conservatory roof, again....

Masona, is that flue projecting 4.5m at least above your stove as it should? Dont know if you are aware but you (and Richard C) should not burn coal & wood at the same time as the coal produces sulphuric acid and any moisture in the wood will cause the flue to rot. Plus the conditions for...

    Roof valley downflow overshoots gutter

The angle of the zinc valley doesnt look as if it would overshoot the gutter, but could the valley be trimmed back so it just overhangs the gutter? Or you could fit a good size snow box/ hopper here and downpipe?
