Lean to Greenhouse air brick advice

Sorry to hijack, but I can't for the life of me find those but in 9x6" square air brick to 4" soil pipe.. Need about 8.... :/

DPC and brick slippage ... stupid question

Interestingly I have been reliably informed that buildings in the Netherlands do not use DPC just for this reason, all the heave experienced would cause them to slip off the foundations if there were a DPC; See all the wonky town houses in Amsterdam. Presumably same building requirement applies...

Can I vent a disused fireplace through suspended floor?

Yes, sounds like a good idea. I'd just fit a couple of air bricks to communicate with the void though, rather than leave it open ,as you might get birds etc ending up down there..

    Possible leaking drain

The concrete prevents moisture from evaporating = bad. Gravel or similar would be best imho. Glyphosate has killed all the vegetation and now it's rotting.

    Inline Extractor Fan

Ha! Thanks, I didn’t actually think to search for a 1gang wall mount type. Oooh there’s many different types!! Thanks again

    Inline Extractor Fan

Following, I am trying to figure out how to have an inline fan (for less noise) but also retain the moisture sensing switching function as found in traditional in-wall/ceiling type fans...

Chimney breast / fireplace for cooker & hob

My fireplace to be opened up was just that, not originally a range, so I am concerned it will look like the below with a flue channel that will need to be removed and masonry above supported..

Chimney breast / fireplace for cooker & hob

I'm doing this. You can open up the original opening, which will either be boarded over, or loosely bricked up, then you can look from inside at the brickwork and check where the lintel is, you'll easily tell. You can then remove the bricks below the lintel without issue. *The bricks blocking up...

    Shower extractor fan

Absolutely the vent should be to outside. The pipe needs to be insulated to prevent the moisture condensing before it reaches the outlet.

    Brick identication

Looks like use of Portland cement mortar where lime should be.. Look forward to spalling faces

    Damp patches on walls

I think the problem is you've just thoroughly sealed what were breathable walls.. Just think how is the moisture supposed to escape now other than the only porous side which is internal? Presumably there is no DPC and honstly 'sealing masonry' never does that, there will always be voids and...

    Repair chimney breast

Sounds like your chimney breast pointing is failing as above, I have cracks in mine and anticipate the same. I have been advised to get some smoke bombs (cheap online) and conduct a few tests and if the chimney is not air(gas) tight, then have is lined, as smoke entering other (bed)rooms is not...

    Planning a rear bay window...

I came up with this genius idea to build a bay window at the back of my house, similar to what's at the front. As can be seen from my MS paint editing skills, I wish to move the current rear 'kitchen', which is 2mx2m, into a breakfast nook type affair with bay window view to the rear, and the...

    Crawl space under floor insulation

The entire space will be full of warm moist air, besides, the radiators wouldn't be very well sized if only the top half of the room was warm. But do what you like I guess

    Crawl space under floor insulation

Ah well there should be a vapour barrier on the warm side to prevent that. So that warm moist air from the occupied space cannot enter the insulation and condense where it contacts the cold front dew point.. Although several on here have said it’s not needed, but it is.. fixing it from...

    Crawl space under floor insulation

What is your joist spacing? Usually around 400mm centres, so you could pre-cut the PIR to 400mm widths and that would fit through your 62/55cm entry way?
