New DIY idea.... your feedback needed!

looks like a good idea. easier to carry / store in the van than regular plasterboard fixings. Bit at the front looks ugly with coathook, but if the fixing was concealed it'd be ok. what would they cost in the shops?

BT Infinity frequently drops out - changing set-up help?

I was a linesman in bt at the launch of adsl and do remember being told by the tefal heads at R and D that they expected cat5 to have a detrimental effect on the dslam to modem part of the line. whether this was related to the *change* in twist per inch going from one cable type to another...

    Lifting flooring

If you're cutting 22mm boards, just make sure it's got more than 22mm depth cut at 90 degrees. The more teeth in the blade the smoother (and slower the cut) If you're not used to using these saws - make sure you secure the workpiece and support the offcut, keep both hands on the saw at...

Need to flatten textured surface, will this work?

isn't that just the same as what you did before to end up with that texture? would be best to skim it

    advice with quote discrepancy

was it really unforseeable? Need to bear in mind that a day into the job, the client is in a much weaker position to negotiate. Personally, if I felt that he was taking the mick in the slightest, i would only pay the agreed price.

BT Infinity frequently drops out - changing set-up help?

Never! I thought they were all degree qualified engineers driving round in those white vans. Next you'll be telling me the guys that fit sky TV aren't expert satellite engineers! I think you'll find your experience can be explained by dodgy or poorly installed cat 5 = you replaced it with...

BT Infinity frequently drops out - changing set-up help?

No, you'll just be wasting your time and money. There isn't much you can do if you can't move the router to the master or wire 'straight through' the existing master to take the master to the router. And even if you did, it might not give any improvement, unless the problem is actually your...

    Age of cable

I have some cable marked 2004 in the loft. seems to be in good condition. Advisable to use or not? It's been sitting on the reel in the loft. never had current applied to it. On the other hand it is 11 years old, and the pvc jacket must have a lifespan if nothing else? Advice?

Bosch Warranty, to pay or stand my ground,?

Bit late for that. They have opened it and said that it failed due to user error - ie that some rubbish was in the mechanism and it must've been his fault. TBH it's hard to imagine how a user could be at fault with an electric plane - it's expected to be used in an environment full of dust...

    Bosch 10.8v twin pack

I have the GSB and it's good. I carry and use it as a driver, but in a pinch if I need to put one or two red plugs in, i can save going to the van for a bigger drill. any more than two plugs and you'll want the 18v or SDS

    Phone line

To answer your question Cgas, you shouldn't strip it before punching it down. if you leave the insulation on it makes a nice gas tight connection that stops it corroding in the future.
