    Interior sealant for window trims?

Hi I've used cheap toolstation acrylic sealant which turned yellow after a couple of days and also unibond sanitary sealant which had a nice silicone brilliant white finish but it was so hard to work with and is now peeling after a month or so. Any suggestions? I'm just fitting new pvc...

Are those light breeze blocks strong enough to hold a TV?

On the other side is a hall/staircase which hasn't been decorated yet so I could possibly drill through and come out just above the stairs then cover it up? Thanks

Are those light breeze blocks strong enough to hold a TV?

Hi I've got an internal wall that I want to mount a TV on however behind the plaster there are the light breeze blocks (the ones you could dig a hole into with a spoon) and I'm concerned they might not be suitable. I know TVs are very light now and the bracket is secured at 4 points with...

New rad and valves but can't move pipes! (pics)

Thanks I'll try that. If I've not got enough movement in the pipe will I get away with cutting then extending the pipe and then doing the bending thing? Thanks

New rad and valves but can't move pipes! (pics)

So from what I've read I should be able to drain it down then try to bend it straight with a spring or am I looking at chopping it and adding a new piece that's bent already as I can't can't find any pre bent joints (not even sure if they exist?). Thanks again.

New rad and valves but can't move pipes! (pics)

Thanks for the replies. I've put another angle in showing that the pipe isn't near the skirting. I think it seems that the rad tail is too far out and I've tried to connect the lockshield and obviously bent the pipe causing a leak. Would I get away with bending the pipe in situ or am I...

New rad and valves but can't move pipes! (pics)

Hi I've gone from imperial to metric rads and replaced the valves however one end is very wonky and is not watertight, there's a drop of water every now and again although tue valves haven't even been opened yet. I'm guessing I need to straighten the pipe as the rad is as far against the...

Using wagos to extend cable run

    Ok thanks

Using wagos to extend cable run

No to both questions. I thought wagos were maintenance free and could be left under floorboards screwed to a joist? Only reason I bought them really.

Using wagos to extend cable run

Hi I've just bought the connectors and wagobox to run a spur from a ring but the ring cable is going to be too short to fit into the wagobox after I've cut and stripped the ends so I was going to extend the cable a little first using a few wago connectors and placing them in a choc box...

Is it normal to have some cracked blocks under cladding?

Hi We've got a 70s semi with some plastic cladding under the bedroom window. Long story short, I removed the windowsill today and there's the breezeblocks on the interior, the cavity and then the outer course right behind the cladding. If you push them the cladding bows outwards. It...

    Switches similar to MK?

Hi I've starting sticking in MK doubles in the new house but realised there's a few standard dimmers in here and the MK ones cost a bomb. Anything that looks slightly similar as they're a kind of off white so even though the wickes ones look similar the colour is well off. Thanks

    Flush metal mounting boxes

Thanks! Would 35mm be appropriate if the socket was being used to spur another double? I imagine the three 2.5mm t+e might get crowded? Thanks

    Flush metal mounting boxes

Hi I'm burying some existing surface mounted sockets into the walls of our house which are brick and plaster. However I'm looking at the metal boxes and they seem to come in a range of sizes! Could anyone tell me the standard depth of mounting box i'll be needing? Options seem like a 25mm...

Security light wired to a light switch in garage-is it live?

It seems I have the 2 lives from the house and the security going into the common (middle terminal) and the live for the interior light going into the top terminal on its own, doesn't seem marked. The new socket has a common terminal so I'm guessing i'll put two lives in there and then a L1...

Security light wired to a light switch in garage-is it live?

Thanks for the reply. Worked great when the new light was wired to the existing wiring. So I have a switch that takes a wire from the lighting circuit, goes to the switch and then powers the on/off tube in the garage and has a permanent live for the security light. Now I would like to...
