    Air vent on CH pipework

I'm just about to adjust pipework to allow our kitchen rad to work on its own zone valve. Just as I was about to start I thought of a potential issue. The boiler is in the garage (ground floor), the flow will run across the garage, up across the first floor landing and back down to the...

    Conservatory rad size

I have a 3m x 3.5m con with a glass roof (I assume less heat loss than plastic roof?). One full height wall, and full height glass on other two sides with a 1200x600 k2 rad, and it's not up to the job. It's plumbed back to the boiler on it's own zone via 2 port valve, and a programmable room...

Two zone valve - volt free conrtact to fire combi?

Difficult for me to comment - I'm more spark than plumb!

Two zone valve - volt free conrtact to fire combi?

Thanks RF - you say when the valve closes - do you mean open?

Two zone valve - volt free conrtact to fire combi?

Hello Everyone I'm just about the embark on a major upgrade of heating pipework to allow some zoning, and wondered if I was right in thinking that if I used a two port zone valve connected as detailed below for each zone, it would work how I want, which is to fire the boiler from a volt free...

    Ferroli Lamborghini - Ferroli replacement

The heat resistant material on the inside front edge of the heat exchanger has started to break down which in turn caused a hot spot on the front and flames started to break through at the edge of the viewing window. By the time I found it (wife complaining that the hot water had stopped) the...

    Ferroli Lamborghini - Ferroli replacement

Whatever colour they've got most of - no doubt - or whatever no one else wants. Personally I'm not bothered, as long as it's red - so I can tell people I've got a red lambo in the garage!!!

    Ferroli Lamborghini - Ferroli replacement

Glutton or Stupid? I agree, but £250 versus £1000 upwards - I'm thinking a gamble worth taking? It would certainly be my last one for sure. I'm getting a 12 month warranty, so it won't cost be anything for at least the first 365 days, which is asking a lot of a Ferroli I know! To be fair...

    Ferroli Lamborghini - Ferroli replacement

I've had Ferroli out today after my Maxima 35C nearly went up in flames causing a smoke filled room, amongst other things. IT's pretty much a right off. They came out at 9am after I sent a snotty email to them with photos last night (copying in the MD helped I think). They've offered a...

Are there any circumstances when this could happen?

It says I don't have permission to view the file. From the small view on the main page it appears that the bypass consists of a link between flow and return with no special valves or other fancy bits. Is that right? If so I've got it, and thanks for the replies.

Are there any circumstances when this could happen?

Would the bypass be inside the boiler? If not, then we haven't got one. Does a bypass just consist of a short link between flow and return prior to the MV's or something else?

Are there any circumstances when this could happen?

So on planning some changes to my system, my proposed idea of taking the flow from the boiler into two MV's via a T piece, to have two zones on the system, each controlled by their own stat, could cause problems to the boiler in a fault condition? Is there a sneaky way round this, or is it...

Are there any circumstances when this could happen?

Are there any circumstances where a two port motorized valve could switch the 'fire boiler' contact, but not actually open in any kind of fault scenario?

Flow and return fro different places?

Thanks dextrous. The MV is situated where it is, because I originally planned for the programmable room stat that controlled it, to do exactly that. Isolate that radiator when the rest of the system was running, and not be able to fire the boiler. This was done like that so that the...

Flow and return fro different places?

In a very simple form, yes. Except the new MV is on the third rad from the boiler rather than the first in your example (as is plumbed now) It's a Ferroli Maxima 30C boiler which it seems (and I don't know why I think this, as I have no evidence, and don't know how the boiler works) but it...

Flow and return fro different places?

Nearly right, but not quite. It's a combi, so no tank, and no MV apart from the one I've already put in, to control just one radiator on its own programable room stat. The other rads are all plumbed as 15mm T's of a 22mm F&R run that goes round the middle of both floor after initially...

Flow and return fro different places?

twgas - i know the drawing will be correct - but how can a correct drawing mean the system will work? Surley the idea is that I wil show you all my correct drawing, and then you can comment on what might be wrong or what can be improved or done differently. For those wishing to help me...

Flow and return fro different places?

Contadictions gentemen. Dextrous you say "With regard to your query about the return pipe, then no problem with leaving this where it is." but then doitall says "The flow and return can only connect in one place. " I shall get a drawing detailing what I have, which I know will be...

Flow and return fro different places?

Oh i love thes forums! My question has been answered - can you take a return feed into the system at any point, or does it need to be at the same place as the flow? The one person who's answered it is Dextrous - and the answer was yes. Thanks Dextrous. If anyone else disagrees...
