    Cracked induction hob

hmm, theres no way i'd be using it without tape over it. Your parents ran a bit of a risk there. I've had a pan on one ring and felt the other rings while that was on, they're very cool to touch, no problems with melting tape there.. Unless of course, you accidentally turn on the ring with the...

    Cracked induction hob

Hi guys, Some how my induction hob developed a crack at the top and over the top right ring, I think my kids stood on it but they won't admit to it. I have taped it up with duck tape and wondered if its still safe to use the other rings if we do not spill anything? Okay, I know its not IDEAL...

Faulty thermostat? it doesn't actually feel right when i turn the dial, normally it clicks when you turn it on but now it just click like a...

Radiators randomly came on and wont turn off.

Hi guys, Thermostat is in the OFF position but the boiler is on and the radiators are piping hot. If i turn the hot water on the boilers light turns on for the RADS but lights up as it should for the HW. If i turn the HW off, the light for HW turns off, as it should but, the radiator light is...

Oven isn't getting hot as it should and tripped fuse box once...

Part is £20, not as cheap as i've paid before but, its got to be done. Theres no element at the bottom as its just a single oven. So only main element and grill element.

Oven isn't getting hot as it should and tripped fuse box once...

Thanks, yup literally just tested it now with a multimeter. No continuity, so thats the problem. Only issue I see is, element cannot be removed from the front. I need to pull the oven out and attack it from the rear, which i've done, has 2 small bolts on the rear. Very odd, never seen them...

Oven isn't getting hot as it should and tripped fuse box once...

I have a matrix oven and recently the cooker switch on the fuse box switched off when I was cooking something in the oven. Also, the heating element isn't heating now. This also happened 2 weeks ago (just the heating side of things) but then went back to normal. Do I have a intermittent...

    Hearth removal advice please?

The chimney has been removed from the roof and sealed. I don't see any dampness coming through in the future. When I removed the hearth there was no noticeable damp issues. The laminate and underlay also had no signs of dampness and the original hearth had carpet glue to it, which also had no...

    Hearth removal advice please?

My brother is a tiler and I didn't realise he did jobs like this before. He's advised to use self levelling compound, which is what I will buy tomorrow and will do the job tomorrow if weather is good.

    Hearth removal advice please?

Cement I guess is a solution. But is it the correct solution? I noticed some 14mm tongue and groove cladding on travis perkins example: https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/Redwood-Tongue-and-Grooved-V-Jointed-Matchboard-Standard-14-5mm-x-119mm/p/183003 Would that do the job as well or would...

    Hearth removal advice please?

I watched this video and it shows the chap using floorboards: PROBLEM: I have removed more of my laminate to expose the floorboards. But I face a bigger problem then first thought. The concrete foundation found under the hearth sits quite high. So putting a ruler on it, you can see in the...

    Hearth removal advice please?

Thanks for replies. I had a go at it with a long screw driver and I managed to lever the entire thing off in one go. Now my next issue.. I now need to fill the hole it came from. It seems its about 20mm deep. I removed a layer of concrete as well as it was all broken up anyway. A bit of remains...

    Hearth removal advice please?

Our chimney and fireplace have been out of action/removed for many years. Leaving the chimney breast in the living room and a ugly hearth. We live in a terraced house which I think was built around 1950- 1960. The hearth is tiled over, but I removed one tile and the concrete is like a aero...
