I have a matrix oven and recently the cooker switch on the fuse box switched off when I was cooking something in the oven.

Also, the heating element isn't heating now. This also happened 2 weeks ago (just the heating side of things) but then went back to normal.

Do I have a intermittent element causing all this? or could it be something else?

I've changed elements before, but never experienced this problem..ie.. it either works or doesn't in my experience and never causes the fuse box to trip.

Sounds like you had a failing element which has now failed and caused a short when it did

Do you have a multimeter to test the element?

Simple to change as you know and a very common fault

Thanks, yup literally just tested it now with a multimeter. No continuity, so thats the problem.

Only issue I see is, element cannot be removed from the front. I need to pull the oven out and attack it from the rear, which i've done, has 2 small bolts on the rear. Very odd, never seen them bolted in from the rear before, then again.. i've only ever changed 2 in my life. Surprised its gone after barely 2 years (Matrix by CDA). I had a old cooker for 15 years that didn't need the element replacing for 15 solid years. Crazy how quality is now compromised.

You are right quantity over qualityv nowadays , welcome to the throwaway culture we live in

Most are bolted in from the back now easier to wire in I presume , least it's a cheap part

Do you have an element at the bottom and have you checked that too?

Part is £20, not as cheap as i've paid before but, its got to be done.

Theres no element at the bottom as its just a single oven. So only main element and grill element.
