    Broken roof joist mystery

That sound easy and straight forward. They’ve done that on the other end. Is this what you suggest? Also would you do A or B or both?

    Broken roof joist mystery

That would make sense to stagger. I may be worrying over nothing as nothings moved for 2 decades but I like being cautious to avoid a bigger problem down the line. We’re doing a garage conversion so when they’re doing it in a few months I may get them to take a look before I start adding more...

    Broken roof joist mystery

Just wondering, does the fact that it is half a bungalow make a difference? I’m wondering if they did this due to the length of beam/roof etc.

    Broken roof joist mystery

I have no idea what the thinking was. All the rafters are two pieces for whatever reason. This is the only one that is bent like this. The house has sold 3 times over the 20 years including to us. I know the previous owners had an inspection done 4 years ago and nothing was raised. While I...

    Broken roof joist mystery

Thanks, yes you were right with regards to the orientation. Bolting on a similar piece of timber and additional supports around it is something I could do relatively easily. I’m amazed that it has survived 20 years like that and it passed building regs. It does look like someone has made an...

    Broken roof joist mystery

No, we used to get surveys done but decided not to on this occasion due to previous experiences of having lots of things missed. I thought that rather than spending £500 on a survey I would keep the money and put it towards any repairs that need doing, such at this. We also got the house for...

    Broken roof joist mystery

I thought about that but was concerned about putting sideways force against them. If this would be ok then that’s a fairly easy option. Im guessing it was made like that (otherwise that much movement would have seen tiles come off) which means it’s been in that position for 20 years so...

    Broken roof joist mystery

You can see it standing back. Hopefully this one won’t rotate round. The house was built in 1999/2000.

    Broken roof joist mystery

That’s strange the picture has rotated in the link. My pictures are all turned around. The plasterboard is actually the roof lining. It is not the ceiling. The photo needs rotating 90 degrees clockwise.

    Broken roof joist mystery

I have discovered a roof joist that has gone wonky in a house we have recently moved in to. What’s annoying is that I completely missed this when looking round. Looking through photos I took prior to buying I can see that it was like that before we moved in. Nothing seems loose, is moving, etc...

    Cleaning Sandstone Walls

I have read posts on the internet suggesting the dangers of pressure washing stone houses. I have also read many posts where people do it to their houses with no issues at all. what I did notice was that all of the webpages suggesting you shouldn’t pressure wash your house was from those...

    What are JB4 ports?

I had a look at the JB4 connections boxes in Toolstation. You would have to have the correct connection to fit. No idea why they are selling this as no one seems to have JB4 connectors unless you buy all new lights, cables etc with them on. Crazy, just buy a bare wire one that you mentioned. In...

    What are JB4 ports?

I went to Oldfieldelectrical and they had exactly what I needed. A 30w 12v driver with bare wire terminals for my old 6 way connector to connect to. All is working perfectly now. Thanks for everyone’s help.

    What are JB4 ports?

To be honest I don’t know what that lead connects to. I would prefer to bare wire it into a driver so I didn’t need to worry about getting the right connectors.

    What are JB4 ports?

Perfect, I was hoping that was the case. Thanks

    What are JB4 ports?

Would you just bare wire into this?

    What are JB4 ports?

Do you have a link to any that can be bought over the counter by any chance?

    What are JB4 ports?

That’s disappointing as I have a lot of older G4 halogen lights that are all wired on a different connector. Plan B, using the existing distributer box and see if it can be connected to the Driver somehow. sorry wrong link. What I meant to post this. It says easy connections but I’m guessing...

    What are JB4 ports?

I am looking to buy a LED driver for my G4 conversion to LED and saw this from Toolstation. It states it has Integrated JB4 distributor ports. What are these? Do you buy JB4 connectors that you connect to the wires to plug in? Every time I’ve googled I get information about cars. There is...
