Boiler moved by a guy that isn't Gas Safe registered.

I haven't gone anywhere, I've been working. I'm not a one-post troll. The 'plumber' is ignoring our calls/sms. We have contacted the window fitter that recommended him and he is still of the opinion the guy is registered and he is going to chase him up. We are waiting for the...

The height of a new Electrical Socket.

I've just had a rewire of my 30s semi and all the sockets have gone at regulation height, which on first sight seemed rather high. The spark said they had to go at that height. I'm not really complaining, just curious - previously they were too low (on skirting boards). :)

Boiler moved by a guy that isn't Gas Safe registered.

You're right, I don't. Other than the fact he refused an invitation to show that he is. And as has been said before, a registered person (in any field) would welcome the chance to prove their worth. I have the name given to me by another tradesman, by which he responded to on every occasion...

The height of a new Electrical Socket.

What if it's a new installation (rewire) in an old house?

Boiler moved by a guy that isn't Gas Safe registered.

Too late. He's been and gone. Would a Gas Safe registered installer provide a certificate? I can call him and ask for one, see what he says. Although, it's all my word against his at the moment. He'd just say I knew he wasn't registered and he was doing it on the cheap at my request.

    Running Cat6 with power cable?

I'm running 4. My rewire 1st fix is done and I'm yet to start laying the network. I'm trying to find a route that'll keep away from the power and minimise damage to walls. It's proving difficult. But if I'm going to rip the place apart, now is the time to do it. :)

Boiler moved by a guy that isn't Gas Safe registered.

The guy that fitted our windows recommended an "experienced engineer" to move our boiler. We ask if he was 'Gas Safe' and were told he was. We got several quotes (including people with obvious registration) and he was the cheapest. We're on a budget, so went with him. He came around, in a...

    Moving boiler requires longer flue.

If the chimney wall is thicker then there may be a chance it'll fit when moved to the thinner wall, despite the stand-off kit. It's difficult to know how the thicknesses differ. It could come down to an inch and that's too hard (for me) to judge by eye. So the problem is not wanting to find...

    Running Cat6 with power cable?

My house is being rewired this week. At the same time I am running cat6 to 3 bedrooms and 2 reception rooms. All from an under-stairs cabinet. My electrician was asking me how/where I was going to run my cables and he suggested I just run them next to his power cables; saves me having to...

    Moving boiler requires longer flue.

I'm having my boiler moved this week. It was suppose to be today, but it's been bumped to tomorrow. Probably a blessing, as we overlooked the fact it's going to require a longer flue as the boiler is now to be mounted on a stand-off. I need to buy one today, or order for Tuesday delivery...

New toilet connection to sewage pipe - building regulations?

Bend replaced with a 'Branch 110mm 92.5° Double Black'. Side boss ready for when the toilet is plumbed. I didn't use washing-up liquid. :)

New toilet connection to sewage pipe - building regulations?

I will be at the very least fitting an access bend of some sort. I need to run the waste from the basin to the pipe anyway, so I'm thinking something like 92.5° (87.5°) Branch Black SP190 with a Black Screw-On End Cap SP292? I'm also looking at one of these (as I'd be able to rod from 12...

New toilet connection to sewage pipe - building regulations?

We've only been in the house 8 weeks and will probably be here for several years (8+). So selling with certificates isn't currently an issue, although maybe it should be... All the pictures are in an album - Linky Although maybe I should destroy the evidence in case BC ask to see...

New toilet connection to sewage pipe - building regulations?

Unfortunately, it's no longer open. He's coming back in a few weeks to remove the slabs and concrete it over. I suspect if I were to tell him to dig it out again and fit the chamber he'd want paying more £££. He reused the dirt (lots of clay) to refill the hole. I didn't notice the use...

Here's a pre-works picture of the existing vent stack. The new drain is located just under the small window to the left of picture.

New toilet connection to sewage pipe - building regulations?

My dad has been around and he said his setup includes an elbow, like the one going into my house, but it has an inspection/rodding 'hatch'. Should I consider replacing mine with something like that, before I attach the toilet? One of these?
