    Levelling after dpm?

To install a surface DPM I think the accepted wisdom is to .. prime self level dpm prime level All good but I was going to skimp and use wickes liquid dpm which seems to say you must not put a self leveller on top of it before screening? Should I ignore that advice or use a better...

    DPC decision

Thanks for the advice. However, I've decided against a dpc layer. In a short (1m) but tall (2m) wall, even with piers, I'm convinced it's going to compromise the strength. The two courses simply aren't stuck together. My plastic dpc layer just lifted right off the mortar under it. Maybe...

    DPC decision

Thanks r896neo. Is mortar under and above correct? The existing brickwork of the garage seems to be just a dpc sitting on top of the course, then mortar and next course.

    DPC decision

I'm building a single skin (half brick) wall where there used to be a door in my attached garage. It's only about 1m long, but 2m high so it ends with piers. The foundations and first few courses are in place etc but once I got to the right height for a plastic dpc I feel like it's a big...

Budget SDS drill for subfloor cut?

I got it and in half an hour at lunch time I've drilled right around the area. Didn't have time to remove it but I expect it will go now :-) Felt much safer than the stihl saw (for a diy'er). Also a useful tool for other small jobs. Cheers. Update: Yep, all done. Exactly what I needed.

Budget SDS drill for subfloor cut?

Thanks! Looks like a great budget buy.

Budget SDS drill for subfloor cut?

I need to cut out a section of concrete slab which is about 4 or 5 inches thick. I borrowed a stihl saw but it's nearly impossible to start (needs maintenance), and is a scary beast of a thing to use anyway. With patience could I use an SDS drill to cut lots of holes and then chisel it out...

    elbow and backplate

I can't have a clip Micky as the whole pipe run is linked at one point with flex so the reason I want this wall plate elbow is to fix things. It's for a rigid riser shower (with oval rail) and a free standing bath. Not a great solution but just one for the time being so I can have a shower...

    elbow and backplate

Can anyone tell me why I can't find a 15mm elbow with backplate? Compression both ends and preferably chrome. I just want to join to 15m tubes at 90 degrees and support it on the wall. Cheers! Turnpike

    boundary guttering

Thanks. I'm just going to start by getting some proper drawings done and then talking to my neighbour about it.

    boundary guttering

The gutter is directly entirely above the edge of the flat roof on the garage I want to rebuild pitched. It's above my garage wall so I'd have thought there is no doubt it is on my property. The side of my house is very narrow as is. I'd have to have the wall exactly where it is now only...

    boundary guttering

noseall: I can't find any reference to the overhanging gutter and car port roof in the deeds and other docs. Next step is just to hope they are open to discussion. I've already mentioned to them the sort of work I'm hoping to have done. Even if the guttering goes, a bit of the metal carport...

    knock it down?

no doubt. i guess the main issue is that it's hard to put a proper new dpc in if there is a failed one or none at all.

    knock it down?

as some of you probably know by now i'm looking into getting most or all of my attached garage rebuilt and a pitch roof over it and my kitchen extension. thanks for all the advice so far, much appreciated. now I'm wondering if the long side single skin wall of the attached garage should come...

    boundary guttering

well thats great. i read that if someone builds over your boundary but no one says anything or complains for several years, you lose the rights you had? ive only been here a year though. but no doubt the boundary was crossed during previous owners.

    boundary guttering

if we don't just figure out a way we both agree to sort it, am i likely to be able to remove any guttering of theres above my garage wall? or could it have been there so long that i have lost rights to the space above my own garage?

    boundary guttering

i'm planning to have my attached garage rebuilt and a pitch roof put on it (extending/replacing the pitched roof already over the attached kitchen extension). However, just above the existing garage wall is the guttering of a neighbours car port. I've not been in the house long and they...

    extending pitched roof

noseall: rosemary tiles. thats what it is now. is it the weight you are wondering about? i think i understand i bit better now. thanks all. i guess you can build a new roof entirely or just in part. the issue is if it's built correctly whicever method is used. it's quite hard to...

    extending pitched roof

Hi Framer, Yeah I've lowered the pitch in the drawing. If it stays as it is, it would overlap a bit the bathroom window. What ever it takes to have the job done properly I will do, but just wondering about avoiding upheaval in the kitchen and also already had one or two suggestions along...
