    Tidying up telephone wire

Well as a retired ex Gpo linesman (came out of apprentiship in 1974) I can tell you the upper part of the insulator does infact unscrew to enable you to nib the bare copper wire to the lead in (bear in mind there where two bare copper wires seperated by about a 12 inches on the overhead) this...

    Tidying up telephone wire

What you have is a bit of grey dw 3 the span across to the pole crimped to a bit of new dw 10 the lead in to the house and nte. As stated if you can do without the phone for a few days break one of the connectors (wiggle the wire until it breaks) and openreach should renew from the nte all the...

    Dale Farm

The odd thing about it is when the law dictates that they should remove themselves they say it's wrong, and then rush to embrace the very law they are defying in appealing. Any how Anders Breivik knows how to sort a camp out in about 2 hours give him a job.

    gas

Well I do work for a meals delivery service which has lpg ovens in the back of vans we just change the bottles as reguired, just like a caravan. I suppose they are judged as less risk than a building filling up with gas from the mains, allthough they are completely different forms of gas.

    Aircraft on a conveyor

Wheels have got sweet FA to do with how a plane takes off they are only the means to get the air flow over the wing in order to creat lift, if it worked don't you think they would have employed it on aircraft carriers as opposed to the catapult system. Any how rotors work. :D

Is there a device to indicate if telephone wires are active?

This may help http://www.amazon.co.uk/MULTI-PURPOSE-VOLTAGE-DETECTOR-TESTER/dp/B004TGMR8O Not saying its any good but for less than a tenner, try it on a known working telephone circuit ie o/h lead in or extension cable.

    Asus monitor

You might find this a bit odd but a couple of what we call thunder bugs(the sort that get into glass fronted paintings etc) have penetrated my 6 month old Asus VK246h and are visible as little greyish dots, it's not a pixel problem as they moved about at first and it's not a little prog like...

    Phone line installation

Whilst Bernard is correct but in the event of a power cut in your area nothing else in your house is going to work either, no broadband tv etc(you will also need to plug in a plain ordinary phone ie not powered ) so unless it's vitally important you have a BT landline look for cheaper options. I...

    General screwing advice

I find that if you partiall insert a longer screw by hand unto the plug and then get a pair of long nosed pliers or whatever you have to grip the screw and the end onto a block of wood you can usually lever the plug out without to much damage.
