Screws / rawl plugs required to hang a coat rack - brick wall?

I have a coat rack , ie a chunky-ish strip of wood about 24 inches long, 2 inches high and around 0.5 inches thick. It has four hooks on it. There are two metal vertical strips behind it a few inches from each end, each with a hole shaped like a circle with a smaller bit on the top ( kind of...

which nightlatch .... Yale vs Avocet vs Banham vs ... anything else?

Hi, I'm thinking of buying a Yale No 1 Night Latch - used them for years, Brotish Kitemarked, and they look and feel pretty damn solid to me. I see that Banham are quite popular but also very expensive. Avocet are also premium keys. And Im sure theres lots more. My question is, is the Yale #1...

Yet another "Which Cordless Drill" ...

Looking for something quite light , plenty of oomph and reliability. Good batteries, good battery charger etc. Has to be reasonably light - I'm not the strongest bloke in the world. This is for general diy - occasional drilling into walls, that sort of thing. I'm assuming 18v is the one to aim...

Perhaps it is mousepiss! Not a bad idea! Is there anything I should do first before applying the gloss? perhaps scrubbing it with bleach first, then some undercoat or something? What kind of gloss? We did actually try painting it too - on the outside! one of the drawers got stuck! oh dear!! haha

OK thanks all; The model I ordered was Euro Trio Closed couple, at 369 from bathstore. So I don't think this is cheap personally but maybe its about right for a reasonable toilet. @squeaky think I tried holding it down, yes - but there you go, you do it so often you don't even notice...

old second hand furniture, musty, dampy odours, dirty ...

Hi, My girlfriend recently bought some second hand furniture: a chest of drawers, and a small bedside unit. These items are probably around thirty or forty years old, made form that darkish wood, and they smell. Hard to describe the smell, but its like that dingyish, dampyish, old, stale...

Bought toilet ... doesnt quite flush everything away ...

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this sort of thing! Without wanting to sound like Alan Partridge either ... Bought a new bathroom from a major high street chain , ie shower, tub, toilet, basin. The old toilet used to flush everything in one flush - this one doesn't. Leaves...

Fitting a new night latch - get a locksmith or a carpenter?

Hi Guys, We recently got a locksmith to change the nightlatch on our door. He fitted an ERA night latch, BS standard, charged about 110 for the latch and 90 for labour (so about 200 in all). I dont know what came over me, Im usually shrewd enough to check prices on the net for the latch, and do...
