    Corrugated Asbestos Roof

I've no idea how big the garage is  All I can say is that it's pretty much a standard single garage, would just about take my car which is a mazda 6, so prob 3x5 ish. There's also a very small shed. I'm based in South Wales, I've no idea if the company would travel outside of the...

    Corrugated Asbestos Roof

Thanks for advice. Have spoken to the surveyor and he reckons best get the specialists in, because they will clean the area of dust afterward. Had a quote of £650+VAT, which is pretty good considering the council charge £20 per sheet and I'd have to get it there somehow. Cheers Dave

    Corrugated Asbestos Roof

I know this subject has come up a number of times, but there's a slightly different slant to this. I'm buying a house with an asbestos cement roof on the garage and shed. I had planned careful removal and disposal of this myself. However, 2 surveyors have commented that the cement is...

    Removing Wallpaper

Thanks for the reply. Ceiling is lath and plaster, we've been advised to just board over it, but the Mrs is complaining about the loss of ceiling height, yes I know, but try telling her that  I'd like to plaster throughout, the whole place needs rewiring and some lead plumbing...

    Removing Wallpaper

I'm buying a 1930s semi that has supaglypta/anaglypta wallpaper. My wife wants to remove this, but I think its the original plaster underneath. We want plain painted walls and ceilings. Assuming I hire a steamer/stripper, what are the chances that I'm not going to need to replaster...

    Old Garage

Thanks for all of the replies. The reason I'm looking to use as much of the garage as possible is to try and keep costs down, as I need to spend the money elsewhere. I haven't had a quote for building a new garage yet, but I don't have the confidence/skill to do it myself, so I've no idea...

    Old Garage

The house I'm buying has a detached garage at the bottom of the garden. Its constructed from a wooden frame, sitting atop a concrete base. The roof is made from corrugated asbestos cement, and has been clad with stainless steel around the outside. I need the garage, but the surveyor has...

    Renovating House

Hello all, I'm in the process of buying a 1930s semi. As you'd expect, it needs some work. I intend getting a contractor in to do some of the more complicated bits of work such as replacing lead plumbing, updating the electrics etc. However, I'm hoping to save some money by doing some of...

Don't know what UKRM is sorry! Are you CET that supply the reconditioned PCBs etc? I was going to call yesterdy for a replacement, but now with this question of whether it could be the pump, I dont' know what's best to proceed. How can you help out? Cheers Dave

Haven't measured in litres/min, and I'm at work so can't check at the moment. There doesn't appear to have been any particular change in flow of the DHW. Literally since Wed, the hot water is just too hot to touch once its warmed up. We're used to it being v hot when the heat is on (if the...

[/b] Sorry, noise has been there for a while, last time we had an engineer was Nov, so CH was being used, but he couldn't pinpoint cause of rattling/vibrating. Boiler does not bang though. Although a reconditioned PCB I used caused what the engineer described as an explosive ignition, so we...

Thanks for the reply, I figured you might be first to respond having been through a search on the site and seen you are considered the man with regard to Pottertons! I have used a mixture of both brand new and reconditioned boards. Do you think it could be the pump rather than the PCB...

Hope someone can help me! I've got the above boiler, which has recently developed a problem. I know it has the most useless PCBs in the world (in the 10 years I've had it, I've replaced 4), but I don't know what might be causing this problem. When calling for DHW, the hot water is very...
