    Moisture problems

The cold taps (and flushes) are still working with the one valve closed, I don't know if there might be a second valve hidden in insulation? Its by no means a traditional setup and a lot of what's been done is questionable and unconventional, so nothing would surprise me. :)

Thanks, yes I've turned the valve off and theres no water coming out the hot water taps, but theres still an amount of water in the header tank. I'll seal it up in a bit and see if the condensation improves. Could the header tank also serve to increase water pressure for the cold taps? Or would...

    Help on regs please

Thank you guys, didn't intend to come across as wanting to do the minimum, I'm well aware it needs modernising hence looking at options for renovation. I also don't particularly like complication or over engineering solutions to a problem. I'd prefer an all electric solution. Theres also no...

    Help on regs please

Ok lesson learned, we have established hot water must be provided at the bathroom sinks. Obviously I don't like 60 degree water in a single tap as people can burn their hands. So I am assuming mixer taps are the best way forward for the sinks? Please could someone advise on suitable options...

    Help on regs please

Exactly nothing about roof or flushing toilet, no need to be sarcastic. It's a genuine question I've never needed to use 60 degree water at a bathroom sink just for washing hands, it seems so wasteful and environmentally unfriendly, not only that 60 degrees in non mixer taps is ludicrous, you...

    Help on regs please

In not so many words, it means it's an old property, built to old standards and while I might be happy putting up with idiosyncrasies and living a certain way, I am considering all options with regards to future renovations and wanting to ensure I'm fully compliant with current building regs and...

    Help on regs please

Where does it say I'm letting the place out? In the first paragraph I say Im not sure what I'll do yet. Why do you think I'm a miserable git, I'm quite happy living moderately within my means. Nobody is paying me to "live in that place". I'm not trying to rent out a "shoithole", hence my...

    Help on regs please

Absolutely yes, I've been living like that for last 30+ years, I use electric shower for bathing, cold water at all taps for hand washing, and boil a kettle at kitchen sink for dishes with no issues, in fact I enjoy the simplicity of a system with little to go wrong, little expense to run...

    Help on regs please

Would an electric shower and electric hot water tap at kitchen sink fulfil requirements? Is there a requirement for hot water at bathroom sink also or could just cold water be supplied here?

    Moisture problems

Thanks all will defo cover the tank and see if the condensation improves, I took a pic on my phone and think its only about 6 inches of water in there but difficult to gauge, certainly wouldn't hurt to rule it out though. Whats the best way to empty it completely? Is there a drain plug or valve...

    Help on regs please

Im renovating a house, hope it's not a silly question, is there a legal requirement to provide hot water? Asking about is there any regs for tenancy and also whether it would affect resale as not sure what I'll do yet. I was going to strip the old immersion heater tank out, bath out, just put...

    Moisture problems

Insulation is about 20-30cm, with no vapour barrier underneath. It's a header tank with ballcock and no lid. I cant see in as its been fitted so close to the roof, about 1-2 inches, presumably access was too difficult to fit a lid, I suppose I could slide some tarp over the top and duck tape to...

    Moisture problems

Hi all, I have a few probs at the minute. The roof felt in the loft is suffering from masses of condensation, the trusses are moist and the water is dripping off the felt, this is causing damp on the insulation and ceilings beneath. I believe the felt to be non breathable bitumen type. I have...

We have almost completed selling house but neighbour has just applied for planning permission

I'm with others on here, the way I see it is you completed the form honestly and to the best of your knowledge at the time you was asked to do so. If something changed after that date I can't see how you can be liable for not declaring anything. Also planning applications are publicly searchable...

Planning permission for detached garage applied for,can I start building as Ihave PD rights already?

If they moan about the increased height from ground level, just tank the exterior walls and raise the ground height with top soil and turf, problem solved ;)

    PP for garage

Does anyone know much about PP for garages? What I'd like is a detached block built triple garage with tiled apex roof 4m (so no planning needed), garden is large so no worries about percentage of space. Could I also board the rafters at this height and have standing height in the apex and fit...
