I think its going to work out easier and cheaper to just switch the 2 port for a 3 port, i expect there will be less wiring with a 3 port but the cost of an extra 2 port compared with just one 3 port is so small i would rather just have the 1.

You beat me to it, i was just going to say it could be sediment. It should be easy enough for you to flush the system out as you will be using the heating alot this time of year so the cleaner will get chance to do its work.
