    rad valve leak from top

Those are quite cheap and un-branded if I saw that right. If you spend a little bit more on the TRV set, you will not have to come back to it later & the reaction times of the TRV will be quicker. Certainly don't buy un-branded, you are just asking for trouble in the future.

Boiler turning off when using the shower

If all your other outlets work and they make the boiler operate as it should on a hot water demand, then it must be an issue with the shower set up. Since it has worked well in the past, I can only assume that the thermostatic cartridge is acting up, allowing too much cold over the hot water...

Boiler turning off when using the shower

The internals may be damaged, stopping it from operating correctly. How long have you had it?

Boiler turning off when using the shower

What did you do to the thermostatic valve? Did you replace the cartridges or just clean the valve? The thermostatic cartridge may be on it's way out, which is why the boiler is having a sporadic demand on the DHW.

    Flow Boilers - any good?

Thanks guys. It goes on to say that currently they only produce large versions for houses with large energy consumption - which will have an additional output that will turn into £500 a year for the family. Not bad, if they manage to make a smaller version.

    Flow Boilers - any good?

    Flow Boilers - any good?

    Re-pointing question

Sorry for the rookie question but I am just checking to make sure I will get rid of a problem. The stairway to my first floor has quite a high roof (not sure what the space above my stairs is called) and I have noticed on one corner that there has been some black mould building up there...

£950 for new Baxi Duotech 28 and new rad....

Just because it's brand new does not mean it hasn't been stolen from a supplier? So long as you are absolutely sure that everything is as it should be then go for it. It does sound too good to be true and generally, if it looks and sounds like a duck, it's probably a duck.

what pipe / fittings to use... brass / plastic etc?>

Problems tend to occur when people find a faster way of doing things. Everyone suddenly thinks that they can do it, knocking up a s**t of a job and 5 years down the line when the property gets sold, someone blames the 'plumber' for the poor look of work / arrangement of the pipework, because the...

Vaillant Montage: no CH and no hot water

FYI, if you ever come back, your boiler is a Vaillant VCW. Apart from the failure to refill the CH system and then turning the CH system on........doh  you mentioned you have been without hot water for quite some time? I guess the diverter valve is stuck feeding the CH system...

what pipe / fittings to use... brass / plastic etc?>

Plastic has come a long way in the last few years and can be used in a wide variety of application, but for my money, I would agree with 'muggles'. I never liked the look of plastic pipework anyway.

    Glass Splash Back

For those who use the search function and find this post in the future: - I used sugar soap on the walls to remove any old grease etc. The adhesive I used did not need a rough surface to apply to, so the smooth plastered surface was fine. I sanded back high spots on the plaster so that I...

    Repressurising Ideal Independent C24 boiler

Also, check that the black handle of the valve is actually turning the valve.

    New radiators

Thats trade talk (in my field) for a valve that doesn't close completely. 'Letting by' is another way of saying it is not closing fully. I'm sure you valves will be fine. just check a container under them when you do the work to catch any loose drippings

    Repressurising Ideal Independent C24 boiler

PTFE tape is the white sealant that you wrap round BSPT & NPT threads. The reason I say is you could (hopefully the black valve is closing fully) remove the flexi hose from the check valve and open the black handle valve. See if that allows water to flow through the flexi hose. You could...

    Repressurising Ideal Independent C24 boiler

Have you got any PTFE tape?

    New radiators

Sounds right. You will hope for the play you need in the pipework to be able to open the gap up to do the required work, but you should be fine. Hope your valves aren't passing
