    Calculating lighting required

Is there any easy way to calculate the required lighting in a room? Probably using 'some' downlighters or similar in an extension I'm building, which will be linked to an existing room making an 'L' shaped kitchen/diner/lounge. This room will have 4.5 metres of bi-fold doors along one wall...

Can I use a sewer mini access chamber?

Thanks Hugh, I will be less than 600mm so I will use the smaller chamber and save a few ££'s. The adjustable inlets should provide me with a bit of flexibility as I'm joining some old pipes to new. P trap Vs bottle gulley - Is there any regulations on this at all that I need to be aware...

    Flat roofing long screws

When I get to putting the extension flat roof together, it will have 140mm Celotex onto of the timbers/firrings, the 18mm OSB board and I was wondering if the are decent screws on the market say 170mm long to hold this lot together? Longest I can find at screwfix are 160mm and these are £45...

Can I use a sewer mini access chamber?

Checking the Screwfix catalogue and see there are two types of ready made sewer chambers, the 450mm size and 270mm size. I need a new chamber for my house, where a 4" pipe will join into the sewer leading to the public sewer chamber. Also a rainwater down pipe will need to join in to the...

New sewer chamber on 6" sewer

Finally dug out the new sewer chamber and pipe runs all looking good. My existing sewer chamber (the one I have to move) is built from a single thickness of brick, have regulations changed do I now need to build the new chamber with 9" walls? The chamber will only be a couple of feet deep...

    Air brick extensions

Thanks guys, has great and I'll duct right through 100mm pipe might be an issue though, due to it's large size. I want the new air bricks to be just a brick down from the damp course and 110mm migh be an issue. Once I have he 150mm of hardcore in place, then the 100 of concrete, I'm left...

    Air brick extensions

I have 2 air bricks on my house, that when I build the extension will themselves need to be extended to the new outside walls. Is there a standard way of doing this? Currently the air bricks are right under the damp course level on the house and id I extended them as is, then the new...
