Is this a double insulated light / does it need earthing?

Hi guys Please see the pics below. I thought the connections being in a white box and the black tubing meant this was a double insulated light and hence no earthing? However there is an earth wire connected on it and it has the earth symbol within the metal housing. So I am guessing I...

Not enough space behind new light switch. Help (PICS INSIDE)

Yes there are three earth wires behind the switch. One is connected to the switch and two are sort of folded out of the way. However the one that is connected to the switch seems really free moving like it may be broken further down the wire hence is able to move up and down with ease. Due to...

Sadly putting in a new box is not really an option as the walls have just been painted. I guess I will take a trip down to B&Q and see what other switches they have on offer :(

Yale HSA6400 or Yale Easy Fit Telecommunication Alarm?

From reading the top amazon review for the HSA6400 it says: "Some wireless alarms can be jammed by the sort of phone jammer you can get on Ebay. This isn't one of them and an attempt to jam the alarm when armed will cause the siren to go off." Does anyone know how accurate that statement...

Thanks for the reply. I am thinking I will remove the left exposed beam over a bit more to the left resulting in only one beam being removed from the frame. The fire comes with a bracket which will be attached to the back brick wall and then the fire will mount that (so it wont actually be...

Are my washing machine isolator valves off? (Pics inside)

Thanks will nip down to B&Q and pick one up. This may sound like a silly questions but lets say the valve was to fail then wouldn't this just cause a build up of water onto the cap maybe resulting in the pipes bursting?

Are my washing machine isolator valves off? (Pics inside)

Thanks for the replies guys. My new machine only has a cold feed. Is it OK for me to leave the hot feed in the position it is currently shown as being off and doing nothing else with it? I will then connect the cold to the new machine and turn that back to the on position. Thanks.
