    Filling void under suspended floor

I'm currently in the process of getting some quotes to fully fill the floor and to see where that leads in terms of time, disruption and cost. I'll investigate the damp / water ingress issues at the same time.

    Filling void under suspended floor

Just had a look. Is it better to have a system embedded in screed so that it works more like a storage heater? Also on their website, they say about running the system at 50 deg. C. but Karndean quote a much lower temperature. Thanks in advance.

    Filling void under suspended floor

I've also considered exactly this. Can I fit a wet system on top of floor beams and solid insulation boards? What then goes on top of that? Some sort of screed?

    Filling void under suspended floor

Hi John, DPC: I will lift some boards and find out. I have a feeling it's a sort of slate between layers of brick, which based on what is visible on the garage which sits slightly lower than the rest of the house it's around 1 or 2 bricks below floor level in the rest of the rooms. For what...

    Filling void under suspended floor

I have noticed drops of moisture on the skirting boards in the same area the slugs were spotted. I was at a loss as to how they appeared there as the carpet isn't wet so I wasn't sure how the spots had formed. The floor boards under the carpet are also dry to the touch.

    Filling void under suspended floor

Isn't the ventilation needed because of the wooden joists so if they no longer existed it wouldn't be required? (I'm not a builder) I'm not sure there is any damp. I think the slugs just "wonder" in through the air bricks then find there way up through the floor boards.

    Filling void under suspended floor

Out of interest, what is the settling time?

    Filling void under suspended floor

I'm not familiar with block and beam as such. What do the beams sit on?

    Filling void under suspended floor

Just wondering if it's possible to fill in the void under my suspended floors? - two reception rooms approx 16m2 each. - the void is around 4ft deep - various electrical cables need to be considered that go to sockets throughout the room The objectives are to improve thermal performance...

Using an airless sprayer with water based undercoat and satin

Does anyone have any experience of using an airless sprayer to apply water based undercoat and satin? I've got a Wagner control pro and a lot of doors to paint. I've been using Johnstone's Aqua and would like to continue to use that paint so the colour of the doors matches the skirting and...

    Can I plug a C19 16A cable into a wall socket

Hi, Thanks all for the replies. The starting point for this question was an image of the back of the unit: According to the specifications the input is a "IEC-320 C20, Schuko CEE 7 / EU1-16P, British BS1363A". Output power capacity is: 1.98 KWatts / 2.2 kVA This would imply a 13A fuse in...

    Can I plug a C19 16A cable into a wall socket

So the 16a plug on the c19 is a different size to a normal domestic 3 pin one? Yes the load is way less than 13a. However what about when the ups is charging?

    Can I plug a C19 16A cable into a wall socket

Roughly 2000w. The load of my equipment is no more than 500w max but I was thinking that a larger unit would power 500w for a longer duration in the event of a power cut. So maybe it's a c19 with a 13a fuse for that rating (similar to a kettle).

    Can I plug a C19 16A cable into a wall socket

Am I able to plug a 16A C19 cable into a UK standard plug socket? The socket forms part of a 32A ring circuit. This would be power an Uninterruptible Power Supply in my garage. Thanks in advance.

Can't find a matching internal door to fit existing frames

Here is a picture I found of the frames before I plastered the walls. I wonder if the two on the right were originally 2032mm (80") height frames and have been reduced for some reason. In any case it looks like I could replace both of those with 2032mm height frames and then I could in fact...

Can't find a matching internal door to fit existing frames

Can't find a matching internal door to fit existing frames

It needs to be 1981mm (78") height. The only door I can get that is 813mm (32") wide is also 2032mm (80") in height. Feels like I'm a bit stuck as it will be very hard to change 3 door frames now to suit. Options: 1. Somehow make the 1981 x 838mm door to fit into the 813mm width frame. 2...

Can't find a matching internal door to fit existing frames

You can't get a white primed door in 813mm in DX30 style. I've also googled extensively :)

Can't find a matching internal door to fit existing frames

I live in a 1930's house and have finished renovating the upstairs and have fitted white primed DX30 doors. The upstairs frames accepted a 1981 x 762mm (30") door. I did not realise the downstairs frames are slightly wider at 813mm (32"). I can't find a matching door with a width of 813mm...

    Felt Wool Lagging

I bought some of this felt wool lagging from eBay. I need it to stop some pipe making noises on the joists when the pipes expand and contract. I noticed that this is felt wool interwoven onto a black plastic film. Is this safe to wrap around pipes that will get hot?
