Leaking slow fill valve in toilet

There are no identifiable marks on the unit, so I can't tell. I thought it was Armitage Shanks, but the housing is slightly different from pictures I've found online. In any case, are you guys implying there's some sort of captive nut underneath the cistern? I don't quite understand how it can...

Leaking slow fill valve in toilet

I'm not sure, no. It's very difficult to tell what's going on underneath the cistern as there's so little access. I can just about fit a screwdriver into the available gap and reach the shut-off valve, but even that's a squeeze. I'm worried that if I attempt a removal I won't be able to replace...

Leaking slow fill valve in toilet

Our toilet's recently started leaking. A picture of the of the slow fill valve that's installed is below. With the float fully raised, water still trickles down the plastic outflow pipe to the right of the foreground of the picture. It's not much, but it's noticeable enough. I've taken the...

Considering Nest in new build apartment

The warranty's confirmed to have expired in 2013. Each to their own. Once sanded and painted I'm sure it'll come out fine (no, not from the perspective of "you get better quality finishes in Scotland", but from the perspective of "it's the same quality finish as the rest of the wall in this...

Considering Nest in new build apartment

Yes of course. It was just a temporary fix last night as time permitted. It's now done... I had to work around the fact that the wall plate screws were 60mm apart, and the Heat Link's 70mm, but a bit of sanding and lick of paint should have it finished...

Well for a start I have two power cables to route through the hole.

Considering Nest in new build apartment

I did consider that but figured it would hurt resale values at upgrade time/if I sell up. Sounds like cutting a recess is the way to go though. As for squaring up in the hole, I guess I wasn't clear: if I square it up then the screws within the mounting holes go into "nothing"... There's no...

Considering Nest in new build apartment

So I'm back in this "aesthetics" thread following my other post in the "wiring" thread. Here's what the solution currently looks like after being temporarily being put in place with one wall screw whilst I work out what to do (a bit wonky, I know)... ...and I now have to find a solution to...

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

Just want to confirm for the next person that the above works a treat. Wired it up this evening after checking for the permanent and switched lives with a multimeter (they were wired as expected), and everything's up and running.

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

Acknowledged. It wasn't quite a duplicate in my mind - the other thread was more about how the physical bits could be placed around the flat, and this one was a follow up for the wiring now that I've purchased a unit. If that was a wrong decision then apologies; as you can see I'm fairly new...

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

Warranty on the installation from the builder. (It's a new build but not literally new). The "kit" is the digistat. That's it.

It's in reference to a previous thread.

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

Checked the warranty situation as was suggested, and it's expired.

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

At source it's on 24/7. To the right of the programmer, just out of sight of the picture, is a wall on/off switch to isolate the supply.

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

Sorry, it's a programmable digistat +2 - time and temperature. This is an apartment block with communal heating, so I'm not sure where the wiring goes - I assume as central valve entering the apartment as we have no boiler.

    Nest Heat Link wiring diagram

So I've taken the punt in buying a Nest and have consulted the wiring diagram for my existing Digistat and what the Heat Link requires. I've got these available in the wall... These connected at the Digistat... And here's what I presume is the relevant diagram from the Nest manual... I...

Considering Nest in new build apartment

Sorry, heating engineer. If I remove the Digistat entirely, place the Heat Link in the electric cupboard, and place the Nest thermostat in the living room, I'm definitely going to have wires and a hole in the wall where the Digistat previously was! I'd prefer not to have the Heat Link on the...

Considering Nest in new build apartment

Yes, I don't dispute that. Let me be clearer: A 'leccy will fit the system but not fix the gaping holes in the wall where the Digistat has been removed and/or wiring has been rerouted/modified. That'll require additional cost/effort to clean up, either on my part as a DIY or getting someone else...
