Getting a nice finish on my plywood?

I'm building some boxing for a boiler and to conceal pipework on a sink in a new bathroom. I've used 12mm marine ply from wickes. Lovely stuff, nice finish on the front. However, I want to trim the edges where it's slightly oversized and a little on the skew (actually, just the one edge, the...

What kind of finsh to cistern boxing?

I've built some boxing to conceal cistern and boiler in the new shower room (yep, left service clearance, ventilation etc for boiler!). The toilet pan will obviously butt up flush to the boxing. (Um, just read that back... no puns intended) I'm pondering over the kind of finish to give the...

New radiator, close to combi boiler.

oh... just read up on radiator balancing. Yep, got lockshield valves already, plenty of them. Thanks for your advice, that's going to solve some other problems I have now with uneven rad temps through the house after I installed three others in the new extension. :D

New radiator, close to combi boiler.

Cool, thanks - found lockshield valves at my local Wickes, only £3.49... however, what's a lockshield valve and how does it work? Is it any different to normal rad valves which, I guess I'd just turn down to reduce the pressure.

New radiator, close to combi boiler.

I need to install a radiator in a small new room I've partitioned off. The new rad will only be about 1m from the actual boiler itself. (Worcester 24cdi) I'm worried that if I tap the 22mm pipes coming from the boiler to connect the new rad, then it'll create a 'short circuit' in the water...

    Leaky tails

I think that's probably the problem - saw someone else on here used 18 wraps. Luckily, I went out and got myself a new roll of ptfe today to I can go crazy with it. Someone else said tighten the tail "four finger tight" - anyone else got any tips of tail tightness? I want to get that bit...

    Leaky tails

I'm installing a couple of new radiators and BOTH the tails of BOTH are leaking (Grr). I've followed the instructons, wrapped a good 3-4 turns of ptfe around the male thread, used a proper radiator alan key and fixed everything good and tight. Now I hope I got the term right, by tail I mean...

Soil stack too close to the wall?

I think that'll do it.... yeah, glued joints. Used those for all my 40mm waste. SO much more reliable than compression joints. And peace of mind that they'll be water-tight in my new stud walling ;) So: next challenge... 1. Get car serviced (they want to do a critical software update -...

Soil stack too close to the wall?

yeah, I considered that. I've only got 230mm from the top lip of the access to the centre of where I need to enter the wall. The lip of the brown acess socket where it comes out of the ground is actually TOUCHING the wall. Is this normal? Andy

Soil stack too close to the wall?

Help! I've hired a corere ready to fit the soil pipe for a new downstairs bathroom and I'm perplexed... The soil pipe sticking out of the ground that my builder put in for me is VERY close to the wall. I've offered up a 90deg bend to the opening and there's just no space for the plug-end to...
