    Neutral Outside of europe

Hi, thanks in advance for any help. Heres the situation, going to be sorting out some electrics in a house outside of the uk, standards in the country are pretty much non existant and currently its so bad you get a shock just touching the metal casing of appliances.. probably some kind of...

What size of cable, 6mm or 10mm

couldnt you over rate the cable to the hob isolator switch in the kitchen? then spur off of that to your oven isolator? instead of running 2 separate cables. wouldnt that save running an extra cable? then both cooking appliances are on the same dedicated circuit.

    Separate radial for oven/boiler/etc?

lol, apparently some people dont know that. saw some wiring the other week... 10mm cable in the CU, using a 45amp MCB. but in the kitchen, somebody had wired the kitchen sockets into the old cooker connection point... and run 2.5mm around the room in a radial to the sockets.. while...

    New isolator

doesnt look like the meter seal has been touched.. just the cutout to fit the Wylex REC2 Isolator. never noticed initially about the electricity board.. why have you cut it down? thats your electricity distributers property?

    New isolator

looks good:) those isolators from TLC are just the job. lol, only thing is..I didnt think the electricity companies normally like people breaking the seals on their main incomers?.. because break the seal on it, and whats to say somebody hasnt tried bypassing the meter?

    Power Shower Pump

Hi, was just something I read before.. by socket I know it can include spur etc.. so I probably should of said 1 extension/alteration per circuit didnt realise there was no limit on it, thought you could only add 1 addition be it socket/fcu/light then any more and the circuits would need...

    Power Shower Pump

Hi, just a quick question. As I know and understand, any electrical work in a bathroom and kitchen is prohibited under part P. But if the power shower pump is located in an airing cuboard or loft space and therefore outside of the bathroom.. and as far as I know.. but could be wrong, part...

I think I got it right...

whats with the ERRRRR...NO. im not an electrician.. but everybody else who actually is never bothered to try and give any kind of constructive feedback on it.. thats clearly not earthed. hence the comment about PLI then I try and help out, and you just go ERRR...no.. well then instead...

I think I got it right...

lol, no doubt somebody will correct me if im wrong, but that doesnt constitute an earthing connection. that connection is for earthing the back box to the main earth for high integrity earthing... but it still needs to go back to the main earthing point. Also you said you tapped into an...

    Supplementary bonding

yes, I pointed out that.. but I didnt get abusive towards them, was merely looking out for their own interests.. and theres nothing wrong with pointing out to somebody that they may not be competent depending on the situation.. because your just informing them of the risk..and the way I said...

    Supplementary bonding

As above, agree on the comparison on gas and electrics.. which is why Gas is still in some respects marginally more dangerous in its own right. cut through an electrical wire.. turn electrics back on.. yes it then becomes an electricution risk.. but not until somebody touches it.. gas though...

    Supplementary bonding

yep you do have valid arguments lol and I agree with them funnily enough. has anybody maybe sugested to the mods? or admin setting up an area like that? especially now part P has been introduced?
  17. R

    Supplementary bonding

firstly.. not saying electrics isnt dangerous, im aware of the risks.. electricution.. fire etc... but the reason why only combustion chamber on there is restricted is because in some respects Gas can be more dangerous, and I can some that up with 1 word.. Carbon Monoxide, it has no smell.. and...

    Supplementary bonding

Hi, I have to say I do agree with that. I dont come on this site and post often.. lol actually only really come on to look at some of the "picture of the week" kind of pics because alot of the time I find it funny. But I have to say.. for a site, that was originally setup to help people...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

maybe not, but you cant exactly say plastic is as neat and tidy as some good copperwork.. the plastic fittings for example are huge and bulky looking...not to mention more expensive. then theres the way, even when clipped it will never be properly straight... just looks messy..maybe if its...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

never used lead.. as you said above its not really used now at all unless its an existing installation, but you only have to look at it to know it must of taken some real skill to do, the way the joints had to be sweated.. even just joining onto copper without leaking lol. as you said its a...
