    Power flush or sludge?

anybody heard of or use those Magnaclean's? I never even heard or saw 1 until recently, but read up on them and they seemed like quite a good idea for cleaning up existing systems to a degree.. and maintaining a clean/new system. Will probably try 1 out and fit 1 at home I think.

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

I certainly do:).. always take pride in my work lol and im a bit of a perfectionist.... just like things to be neat and tidy, and look good. probably take it a bit too far though sometimes lol. as above.. when I fit kitchen sinks in new kitchens, I will bring the 2 pipes through the back...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

lol I know, and I know why they use it.. for speed and ease of use. but its generally more expensive.. and doesnt look half as good... as above, I cant stand the stuff... because I have the rather crude oppinion.. if I wouldnt do it in my own house why do it in somebody elses house?

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

[/url] I agree.. I cant personally stand the stuff. Copper pipe with decent soldered endfeed fittings as far as Im concerned is alot neater than bulky plstic fittings, and alot more permanent.. no rubber seals to deteriate or leak... with copper once its done and leakfree it will generally...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

it was done by a pair of property developers, they are the ones who own the property:S and they are doing their own work lol. just think, if they are going to do shoddy work like that its giving people in the trade a bad name.. and if they are incapable shoulnt be doing property development...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

it wasnt a plumber, it was a pair of property developers lol. but whoever buys the house will probably look at it and assume some tradesperson may of done it.. especially if they dont realise the house was subject to a property development. but even still.. regardless of who did it the work...

Shoddy work giving tradesmen a bad name.

Hi.. just thought id post about it.. will try and get some pics if I can at some point. but like most of you professional plumbers, I tend to pride in my work and do things properly.. or maybe Im just a bit old fashioned? but I like using the traditional end feed copper fittings.. and...

    CU tidy up

well surely you would start with installing a 17th edition board.. seeming as the old board is being removed to re-wire and extend the wires its a logical thing to do... then that in turn would ensure all circuits are RCD protected eigther by RCD or RCBO. How is it logical, to remove an old...

    CU tidy up

Also.. dont mean to critiscise and put a boot in it. But, because you are asking those questions on here on what to do.. are you competant in doing the work? this isnt just extending a circuit, changing a fitting or fixture.. maybe adding an extra circuit which you know is sound. the...

    CU tidy up

Hi, just a word of warning.. but its quite likely this work would come under Part P.. because it sounds like you will be essentially re-wiring the consumer unit, also when doing this scale of job.. you would normally ensure the circuits are brought up to date... if you are adement to do this job...

    Electrics in new kitchen

Hi as far as I know, All circuits buried less than 50mm without mechanical protection require RCD protection, even a fridge freezer radial, but this would be overcome with an RCBO, instead of putting it on the same RCD as other circuits. "a dishwasher and washing machine on there own 32amp...

Elica Cooker Hood with 2 pin Plug

Hi, just got an Elica Cooker hood.. it has a 2 pin plug though, like you find on shaver sockets.. does that mean I need to use a shaver wallplate to plug it into? or do I just cut the plug off and wire it in as normal.

    Joining Cables in inaccessible areas

Hi, just seen these, http://www.wagobox.com/shop/lever/2-pole-lever-cage-clamp-terminal-block-20pcs.html are these acceptable for joining wires in inaccessible areas? Ive read a typically acceptable methods are crimp and heatshrink, but I just wondered if these are also acceptable?

    Bathroom Extactor Fan

dripping off the fan? Sure the condensation isnt being created inside the ductwork and dripping back down through the fan? Thats why ideally these should be fitted, http://www.polypipe.com/polypipe/controller?action=VENTS-ProductDetails&productid=25574&categoryID=7555 because...

immersion heater off (plug and socket)

I agree.. certainly no harm in doing so, just good practice. Like ideally putting Fridge Freezers on their own RCBO or outside the RCD ~(as long as the socket is marked up as non RCD protected.) Other items which should be on their own circuit because of high loading include cookers/hob...

    no earth bonding

is there any particular reason why it has to be bonded to the lighting circuit? or is that just for convienience because you have lighting in the bathroom to bond to, but not sockets? When I did it a few years ago, I just took a suitibly rated earth wire from the bathroom back to the fusebox...

Hi, sorry to sound like im throwing a spanner in the works.. not that most people will care anyway lol..as most people seem to take the view they do what they like in their own house and im not going to start yet another debate/argument on the whole part p stuff.. but I wanted to make sure you...
