    expanding loop circuit

I think crimping will work, thanks. I'll probably get my old neighbour to take a look as he is a retired election and I'd like to do the work myself.

    expanding loop circuit

I want to add two electrical sockets in my living room, so what I am thinking of doing is extending the loop from an existing socket, running under the floorboards to the new locations, then back to the existing socket. I need to take one of the wires out of the existing socket, and connect...

    under floor insulation

Did you use a breathable membrane like they use in roofs or a mesh. I think the membrane would work better to reduce draughts and keep the heat in the insulation?

    under floor insulation

I'm going from no insulation and draughty floorboards to insulation and sealed floors so I'm hoping for a big difference. Just wish I had bought the insulation when it was cheaper last year! My joists are just under 100mm so will be insulating to that level.

    under floor insulation

Hi, I am putting down new engineered flooring over existing floorboards and I am thinking of insulating between the joists using mineral wool suspended with some chicken wire or plastic similar. I have two questions, will it make much difference if I am already putting underlay and another...

    under floorboard insulation

This was what was under the floorboards! Not much room for air flow! Looks like they cemented over a load of it aswell, not sure what to do with it.

    under floorboard insulation

If I go with using boards, should I use regular polystyrene sheets because it is more breathable? I'm thinking of 50mm thickness. The floor will be tiled over in places, then rest will be exposed beneath kitchen units. Can the insulation go right up to the walls, or should there be another...

    under floorboard insulation

I like the idea of sheepswool because its natural, good with moisture and isn't hazardous.

    under floorboard insulation

Hi, I am fitting our new kitchen, and have had to take up most of the floorboards because a previous builder filled it up with rubble from taking out a chimney, so I have been clearing that out! I was thinking of insulating under the floor whilst I am at it, and wondering whether to use...

    New gas pipe?

That's a good point, but there aren't lots of options being a middle terrace house. I just don't want to have to rip up any new flooring we plan on putting down in a year or two. It all depends on the cost and need, so guess I will wait for the engineer

    New gas pipe?

I want to move a gas pipe which feeds our boiler as it runs up the middle of our kitchen wall. A friend came round to look at the pipes before we knew it was gas and advised that if we ever want to upgrade our boiler (currently D effeciency 15KW) that we may have to upgrade our pipe which is...

    blocking chimney

We are currently putting in a new kitchen. The first job was to get the chimney supported which had been removed by a previous owner. What should I do with the chimney which currently drops a fair amount of soot out? I know it still needs ventilation to stop damp, and the area will be...
