Installing eaves trays, couple of questions.

as per the discussion/advice in one of my previous posts I'm going to install eaves trays. Couple of questions, you'll see in this picture there is a vertical fillet pinning the felt down, I'll need to chop that so I can slide the eaves tray under the felt, will there be any issue with that...

which strimmer/hedge trimmer petrol multi tool?

Need to get an articulating long reach hedge trimmer, as i will only need to use this twice a year i want to get one that doubles as a strimmer. (will be cutting a beech hedge right now but in the future will also include privet and leylandii) obviously something from Stihl would be great...

Guttering - help solve a really stupid disagreement

i've been looking into guttering for my house and read some manufacturer stuff. As has been said, a central down pipe can drain off a greater roof area (therefore higher volume of water) than a single pipe at one end. common sense really as with the single pipe water has less to travel...

water rushing in sealed system, fit additional air vent?

do you know if auto air vents can work if tilted slightly? the return pipe is directly below the flow so no room for one without tilting it or adding in a bend in the pipe to bring it out.

water rushing in sealed system, fit additional air vent?

so, after a recent drain down I've filled the system and bled everything I can. when i switch on the system i get a water rushing/gurgling noise, it goes away once the system has run for a while. sometimes you can hear a noise from the (new) pump that sounds like aerated water going through...

    Central heating Pump siezed.

so, pump swapped and working, managed to get it off quite easily, one nut off the pump came loose and the compression nut on the other valve. Valves were weeping so I just removed the olives and put brand new ones on. struggling to get all the air out of the system though. Bled all...

    Central heating Pump siezed.

i bought some valves in case i break the current ones getting the pump off, was hoping to not drain down again as i had just added the inhibitor. saying that, the inhibitor will still be in the towel rad upstairs as the pump hasn't run since then, i could just close that rad off until the...

    Central heating Pump siezed.

ok, going to pick up a 15-50 at lunchtime today decided I would just go for a complete swap just for peace of mind. do I need a special tool to undo the nuts on the pump? looks like the diameter of the nut is about 5-6cm, not sure if I have a spanner or pipe grip that will go round that.

    Central heating Pump siezed.

I see screwfix have two grundfos pumps, 15-50 and 15-60, what's the difference? Grundfos site doesn't seem to explain.

    Central heating Pump siezed.

I guess what I mean is I think it's siezed, but wondered if it could be something else I don't know about?

    Central heating Pump siezed.

So, after a drain down and re-fill I worked on bleeding the system. i bled the pump and switched on the heating. the pump appeared to be sticking in that it didn't come on immediatly. Now it seems to be siezed completely? I can hear it make a light buzzing but it's not turning. you can...

    Magnaclean leak, warranty process?

I was carefull when fitting but of course i guess cross threading could also be a problem even if they look ok. I am wondering if I have a corrosion problem (i have a sealed system), not sure if you saw an earlier post i had where I was asking about the colour of system water as mine is brown...

    Magnaclean leak, warranty process?

hmm, let me see... As I said, the plastic threads appear to be fine. The nut goes on straight but doesn't seem to be achieveing a seal. If I reverse the magnaclean and use the other valve, the threads line up and it goes on straight. I said it was leaking and I can see something that...

    Magnaclean leak, warranty process?

Spotted my magnaclean has been leaking, on closer inspection i reckon it's one of the valves that is poorly made. if you look at the nut that connects to the magnaclean body side on, it's approx 15mm high on one side, but the other is about 12 mm. I think as a result it's not pressing evenly...

Sprung a leak. Help needed please ?

if you do a search you will see numerous topics debating ptfe on compression, it's been done to death, but to summarise, a compression shouldn't need ptfe if fitted correctly, but if you do need to use some, it goes on the olive, not the threads.
