Finally going to insulate under the floorboards in the lounge. Don't have to lift up the floorboards as there is a generous crawl space underneath. I have the option of going with 100mm Kingspan, or a 200mm space blanket. The Kingspan has the better U value but its going to be harder to fit...

Good point. I know there's at least 3cm of plaster as my youngest decided to swing on the curtain and brought the fixings incuding part of the plaster down. I'm happy to go with less. It seems around the 50 - 60mm mark is common.

Thanks for the help chaps. Did it all today in about an hour. Shouldn't have taken that long but there were three valves all wired together in a junction box. Wasn't particularly happy with some of the existing wiring so ended up sorting that out as well.
