Can I do my own BW plans for attic ensuite?

Got some great great drawings knocked up by Damo, so thanks again for that. Noseall - the previous owner was a joiner and it had been approved and started over 20 years ago (running up until god-knows when!) - AFAIK it's to plan and I do know the staircase meets regs and it is properly...

Can I do my own BW plans for attic ensuite?

Thanks DevilDamo, very helpful. Just noticed I have to link to the pics - here they are: http://www.diynot.com/network/dagoof/albums/4941 Regarding insulation, do I need to specify? In the pitched roof there had been crappy old fibre board in there which I've replaced with 75mm kingspan...

Can I do my own BW plans for attic ensuite?

Was wondering if anyone can help - I've been living in a building site (aka rennovation project) for over a year now. Just found out my mrs is 3 months pregnant so I really need to get things moving along! The previous owner had undertaken an attic conversion - it wasn't really...

    Can't decide on a floor varnish/stain/HWO (wan't gloss look)

Thanks for the info Tone - looks like that's mega and traffic out of the mix then  Will check out Diamond Glaze - just wondering why you mention the bona site when talking about the dulux stuff though?

    Can't decide on a floor varnish/stain/HWO (wan't gloss look)

Ahhhh! Been mulling over the right varnish for ages but can't decide  In a nutshell, I've quite a large area (4 rooms, 60sqm) I want to varnish on a tight budget. The flooring is pine, though we would like to colour it to get as close to an 'oak look' as possible. I had been leaning...

Thermaline plasterboard or Kingspan + plasterboard

Thanks again for the info Freddy - it's not under building control at the moment. The loft conversion was started by the previous owner (had paperwork approved for it) and it had old fibre-based insulation. I've just ripped all that out and replaced with the 75mm kingspan. The architect I...

Thermaline plasterboard or Kingspan + plasterboard

Thanks Freddy - just thinking, in that case maybe I should bond the kingspan to the board with something? Edit: actually, the kingspan could be put in between the battons (that form the dormer) to cut down on the thickness, but that would mean no air gap (the area's also disected a lot by the...

Thermaline plasterboard or Kingspan + plasterboard

Was wondering if anyone can help me. Pretty easy one - I'm about to start plasterboard lining my loft, however, I was advised by an architect to use insulated plasterboard on the internal cheeks of the dormer. I've been checking the insulated gyproc out and it's quite pricey - however, I do...

Best place to buy (a lot!) of floor varnish?

I'll soon be at the stage of sanding and varnishing the floors throughout the house - however, it's dawned on me that this'll require quite a lot of varnish. The floor area involved is the best part of 60sqm and, at 3 coats (so 180sqm coverage), we're talking quite a few 750ml tins - about 30 if...

    Cavity Wall Insulation

I read yesterday that just 5% moisture in fibre based insulations means a loss of 95% effectiveness. I'm not sure if you'd see other problems indicating this (I'd imagine damp patches on walls) but might be worth having checked out.

Can I use pitched roof insulation under floors?

I bought a load of 75mm Kingspan TP10 for insulating my pitched roof but have found I've got quite a lot left over - I was wondering if this would be suitable to insulate under the ground floor of a bungalow? The reason I ask was because I thought there may be some breathability needed :?:

Baxi CH not working (sorted, thanks baxpoti)

Thanks baxpoti, appreciate the advice - when you mention the terminal block, do you mean the part on the pcb where you remove the 'control box cover'?

Baxi CH not working (sorted, thanks baxpoti)

I've recently moved into a new flat that has a Baxi 80e combi - typically it's just gone on the blink  The HW is fine but when I switch on the CH nothing happens - the power LED is on but no fault lights come on, nothing. I found another post with the exact same thing here, am I right...
