I'm "on call" most weeknights and weekends and charge £30 and £50 respectively for abstaining from the ale! These are London prices though.

    Christmas Project - New Van!

Hi All, hope you all had a nice break, just thought I'd post some pictures of a little Christmas project I undertook.... Got my new van a few days before Christmas Day and spent the twilight period between Boxing Day and New Years out in the cold and rain and dark installing lighting and...

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

Ideal. Couldn't I get round the timer issue by spurring off the positive before it goes into the light? Is it just a case of stripping back the insulation and soldering onto the wire (as you would T'ing into a water pipe) ?

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

Just had a thought - there are already lights in the load space (crappy little ones). These are switched. Wouldn't it be 100 times easier to spur off these?

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

OK so the voltage drop you mention is because each light will draw power with the closest using more than the light furthest away? So every light needs it's own cable run? ie. I'll have 2 x amber LED lights attached behind the grill, and I'll have to run 2 positive and 2 negatives back to...

    Temporary Van Insurance...

it's looking that way! I think I also have to declare it SORN if there's no insurance too... If this is the case, how on earth do I let people take it out for a test drive when there's no tax on it ? (assuming potential buyers have their own insurance)...

    Temporary Van Insurance...

Hello again all, I've got a new van arriving on Friday and I've switched my insurance cover accordingly. My old van will then be sat outside the house until it sells. I'm guessing about a month until I shift her, maybe less maybe more. My insurer can offer dual cover for a maximum of 2...

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

OK, I will pop into Maplins over the weekend and see how much their soldering kits are, does make sense to do it properly given how much cable I'm running.

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

Cheers chaps. I don't intend to use it anywhere near 1500w 99% of the time. It's mostly just used for powering my laptop / battery chargers. I got 1500w for the odd occasion I might need to power something meaty like a drill or vacuum. I doubt I will be soldering the cables together...

    Installing a few 12v goodies....

Hi everyone, Firstly my sincere apologies for what will seem like stupid questions, I don't have a wealth of experience in automotive electrics!!!.... My new van arrives next week and I've bought a few bits to go on it. Namely a power inverter that will need connecting to the battery. Also...

    Need a base!

I work for a company that covers sites across a big area of the country. Thing is I'm working the furthest away from our HQ and warehouse etc and the time has come where I need some storage / disposal facilities of my own. What would be ideal would be a container with power preferably AND a...

Hotpoint Fridge Freezer FFA64 Red Light of Death

Evening all, My freezer is showing "High Temp" more and more recently. Now it's constantly on. I've taken the cover off the back and melted a load of the ice from the evaporator. The fan is spinning. This was about 5 hours ago and the high temp light is still on. I've done the...

    Time for a new van...

ouch! all seems like false economy overall. surely it makes sense to pay extra each month and enjoy the benefits of a warranty, no MOT and tax deductible payments (and a nice new van to drive around in!) - without the sword of Damacles dangling above you, every time you hear a rattle / see...
