    DIY Van Service?

Just had a quote for a major service on the van... £450  Is it that hard to service yourself? I don't have any of the gear, but I see you can get a trolly jack / axle stands / oil filter spanner / spark plug wrench / sump bucket for less than £40.00 from tool station. Then all...

    Toilet handle question!

never seen that particular problem before, you say it's "chrome" - do u mean chrome coated plastic or brass? A brass one shouldn't bend like that... Also, as a maintenance plumber who regularly fixes toilets, can I just say your 2 part dudley turbo 88 syphon makes me moist.

Unable to get Outdoor tap lined up with Wall elbow

Not sure of the exact number of turns, but i'd hazard a guess at about 1/4 of a roll. Ideally you want enough on to get you deep enough into the thread so you're near the end when it's tight.

Unable to get Outdoor tap lined up with Wall elbow

take the tap back off and put twice as much ptfe on the thread, that way you'll be getting tight way before the end of the thread - allowing you to have it straight! simples.

Shower hot pressure lower after cylinder moved

Hi all, I moved my cylinder yesterday from one cupboard to another (indirect gravity vented). In it's new location all the pipes have another meter or so run. All pipe diameters are the same. The hot feed Ts off (downwards) on DHW distribution (on the horizontal before it Ts to become the...

    drain cleaner

I'm unfortunate enough to work on urinals nearly every day, and I am yet to find a cleaner that will shift the solidified crystals you get (invariably on the 2" T where the 1 1/2" joins onto the 2" run). Tried sulphuric acid, one shot, plungers etc, only a 110v snake seems to shift it every...

Getting more out of the van...

I'll look into that cheers. I actually work all over surrey berks and London and I can pick and choose my work so I'm pretty flexible in that regard

Getting more out of the van...

Hi all, I live in Plymouth but work up near London (and make regular trips back and forth). With the rising price of diesel I'm becoming more and more conscious of the fact that I may be missing an opportunity to make a little money (I have 2 empty seats and a half empty van) from my...

    Fitting Toilet Battle!

Are all holes for taps the same size?

lifes never that simple! check the size of the thread on your current tap, some tap holes can only accomodate 1" threads

    how to raise toilet pan

I'd second seco's suggestion to just alter the CH pipework (offset it to go under the pan connector). If you're not confident with a torch, you can buy tectite copper push fit fittings from screwfix and tradepoint that don't look too bad

    Van tyre size

Andy - I shopped around alot for my van tyres when they needed changing, ended up getting some budget "Federal" tyres for £60 fitted each. Ive done 15k on them so far, think theres another 10k in them too. Performance wise I wouldn't throw them round any corners but they seem fine for the...

    Flow and return..?

assuming you can isolate the supply :?: then most modern TRVs can be fit on either flow or return.
