Pressure increases when heating turned on!

I would hazard a guess that the valve on the filling loop is letting by.

    Capping off CI "Y branch"

Well I managed to get a flexseal over the CI but theres a very slow drip coming from the CI end of the sleeve. The surface of the CI is uneven (from rust and paint) so I'm going to go back tomorrow AM and try and smooth it out. I've tried a wire brush, with little effect, I'm going to try...

    Capping off CI "Y branch"

Hi all, Got called out to a leak on this cast iron branch today. (In a pub toilet - gents 1 1/2" waste going into one of the collars, the other one was "capped off" - cap was actually loose). The 1 1/2" waste was being "held in" the cast iron with silicone, and had come loose. As you...

    Install new WC

The original pic is of a swan necked pan connector. There's no reason why you can't use a 90 degree flexi pan connector if it makes life easier. :P

    B&Q trade Card - WARNING

I've got a B and Q shed with a TradePoint thingy really close to my house, so tend to end up in there for some of my materials etc and I have to say, on the whole it's a bit of a nightmare. At least 5 or 6 times I've gone in and asked for something from the catalogue only to be told it's not...

Mono mixer: holding base firm for washer renewal

I find using a normal spanner (17 for those nuts I think), then tapping the other end with a hammer usually loosens it up. Careful with the sink though, they're usually quite thin where the tap is and won't take much abuse.

FWIW using proper copper tails on the tap instead of hoses helps with stability.

    Knocking clutch - Update

Well, the knocking noise came back today for all of 5 minutes then stopped again! Funny thing is, it was also knocking away even when the clutch wasn't depressed. It's been fine since my original post (below). Could it be something else loose near to the clutch perhaps? FWIW it's never...
