it was stained with oil based product, i think, ronseal, have just finsihed the second coat of satin varnish on it

this is a good tip, you can use the tester pots of paints from diy stores then go over it in varnish, gloss, satin , matt which ever you prefer and this gives a very hard wearing coat without the cost of tile paint, and in my opinion a better finish

well worth to put a liner down, dont need to buy expensive garden liner just get some sturdy polythene sheeting. If you do this you dont need too much gravel 1-2 inch should do ,

i have a weed in one of my patches that seems to have roots going all over the place in the soil and is now starting to grow through into that patch, does anyone know what this is and how to git rid of without danmaging the plants in the patch. The roots are about 5mm thick and are rampant

i'm gonna sand my dining room floor (approx 2.4mx3.6m) would it be alright to do this with a normal sander rather than hiring a floor sander
